May be worth checking other models as well.....
Out of curiosity I checked for the 5550, and there is a ROM update which contains the same BT driver.
It says for the driver:
Bluetooth Driver Version 1.4.1.58:
- Fixes a problem where system would hang when disconnecting a PAN connection via the Incoming Connection icon.
- Fixes a problem where the device needed a Normal Reset after being turned off while transferring data via SPP, for example, while connected to a Bluetooth GPS device.
- Fixes the proxy settings getting erased in the Bluetooth Settings.
- Fixes a problem when using 'Dial via Bluetooth' which would not accept spaces in the phone number.
Only problem might be if HP and TomTom are trying to fix the same issue but from different directions. _________________ TomTom 920T |

I hadn't seen Dave's News item before I posted this! And there I was thinking I had been first to find something of interest......

OK, I have just downloaded and installed the patch:
On one hand, it seems to be more stable when turning on/off the ipaq.
On the other hand: Previously, any application wanting to use BT automatically also turned on BT when BT Manager started. Now you havto first turn ON BT, otherwise the system hangs... |

Oh dear, not nice. I was in two minds to install this last night, but managed to refrain by pulling the plug out of the wall. |

Tried to install the update for the 5550, but so far haven't managed it.
The update is 'language specific', and won't install...... _________________ TomTom 920T |

Must admit I havent had time to install the patch myself yet, but I never turn the BT off on my 2210. Actually that is not strictly true I did when I was testing a CF GPS, otherwise... _________________ Mike Barrett |

The update is language specific in that it looks for US English. Just change your regional settings to US English, do the update, then change it back to UK English.
There is definitely an odd logic to HPs numbering. This is the 1.00.17 ROM update, it says in the notes, "Does not update ROM to version 1.00.17"!.
The system does seem more stable afterwards. |
