|
|
I have noticed that when travelling at a constant speed that the speed indication provided by the GPS / Software (TTN2 Bluetooth) is around 10-12% slower that the car's speedo readout.
Is the speed indication provided by GPS accurate?? (assuming you are doing a constant speed for a period of time to smooth out the averaging i guess)
Again, have to say this is the best GPS site out there, by miles,.......accurate ones at that! |

The speedometer readout is off on the high end by 4 mph or 4 km/h (depending on the country) - and this is due to european law. Other influencing factors are tire type (you may have changed them), wear, and inflation level (of the tires, that is).
The GPS speed readout has an error rate around 0.1 mph (or km/h). This is mostly due to the earth model that's used for calculations, and it ignores the vertical speed.
Anyhow, the GPS readout is much more accurate than the speedo. _________________ Lutz

....and that's why when I have 5 GPS Receivers in car, they all tell me the same speed except for the car which says it's around 4-5mph off. |

You should see the house!
Anyway, here's an older pic of the car one Saturday morning on the way in to the office.
I did have to park up to take the photo though! |

Dave: I did mail you, dunno if you got it, but I co-own a Vxl Vectra Owners Club. You would be very welcome to come over and have a look. And maybe we could help you out with any non-GPS problems relating to your Vec, seeing as you help us all out so much here There are so many members of our site that have popped over to here to have a look as many are installing PDA Sat-Navs.
Anyway sorry to Hi-jack this thread

Hi Matty, I'll check my email, I've currently got about 1300 unread emails that I'm trying to wade through, so I suspect I probably have it there, it's just finding it at present |

Hello Dave, how do you get power to all those machines!
I've just bought a Dell/TomTom package and I'm wondering how to power it as I already have a Parrott Bluetooth handsfree mobile phone gizmo plugged into the lighter socket. Any ideas? Thanks.

Joe,
I bought a 4 socket extension lead (can't remember where exactly, but it was probably either Halfords or Maplins). It plugs into the cigarette lighter socket and then gives me 4 sockets to plug things into. I have it stuck on the driver's side footwell, and normally use 3 sockets. Origin B2, Parrot Driveblue, and Ipaq/Navman.

Joe, I rigged a nuclear generator and put it in the boot of my Vectra. Nah, actually the battery I have will support a huge a mount of amps, so I currently have 3x4-way accessory sockets giving me 12 sockets available You can purchase them from Maplins at around £8.
