Does anyone in the know have news of the poll that has been running please, and more importantly, if the POI Edit priority has been promoted so it will work with the new latest Camera database?
PS: Hope I have posted this in the correct forum. Ignorance is bliss. |

Well the obvious place would be the thread connected to the poll ;) I've answered you there _________________ Darren Griffin

Ah. You may have hit the nail on the head. I tried the second link you kindly provided but again all I get is a blank light blue scree. I have recently reformatted my PC but I hve "J2SE Runtime Environement 5.0 Update 3 (117Mb) installed which has a Java type icon but that's all I can find. Do I need to install anything else to so I can get full Pocket GPS access? If so do you know exactly what and where I can download it from please?
This may also be the reason for the other problem I have logging on and downloading the camera database. Briefly this is what I have been doing:
Login at www.pocketgpsworld.com
next screen says my user status as OFFLINE
Last 10 News submissions sent by me is blank on a light blue screen
Clicked on Speed Cameras link on left hand side and under "Downloading the Database" and "Speed Camera Submissions" it reads it would appear as if you are not logged in correctly...".
When I click on "click here" the next screen shows my account page which shows me as being logged in (displays number of years I have left registered - 19 years 344 days etc etc)
When I try downloading the database again blank scrren, nothing happens
I have also registered to receive the newsletter and to be notified of replies to my posts but I receive neither.
Can you or others help please? |

You should always use www.pocketgpsworld.com rather than one of our mirror sites. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Just did but there's no change to what I said in my last post. So I'm struggling to see the difference. What I really need to know is does Java script really make a difference? If it does can any one help me please? |

There is an issue (which we are addressing) with cookies when you use a mixture of www.pocketgpsworld.com, pocketgpsworld.com (without the www) and the co.uk sites.
On Internet Explorer you can clear your cookies using Tools/Internet Options/Delete Cookies.
Some ISPs store (cache) web pages so they don't always update immediately. 'Hard' refresh subscription/download page by pressing 'Control' on your keyboard whilst pressing the refresh/reload button on your browser.
Are you sure that your privacy settings are not set too high?
Anyone else having this problem? _________________ Robert Brady |

Sorry Colin, missed your earlier post.
Please let me know which operating system, anti-virus software and firewall you use. _________________ Robert Brady |

No, let me apologise to you. I've just worked out the problem thanks to your earlier advice. It was me not using the correct combination. You were right all along. If you use the correct combination of www.pocketgps.com AND by using Internet Explorer there is no problem - camera database download works first time. BUT if Firefox is used to access www.pocketgps.com OR www.pocket.co.uk database download fails.
So you were right afterall.
Thanks again. You've made my weekend! |
