did not realise there was a full 24 pages set out to this until i posted a seperate topic, from which i was asked to tranfer my findings.
here is the straight cut and paste.
following an audit on ebay, not long ago, a very large number of sellers were found to be offering what can only be described as the pocketgps camera database, either as a cd or email option.
i am pleased to say that after searching the 1136 items on offer, searching under garmin, there was only 5.
9705894575 99p
9704241436 £1.49
9705646482 £2.99
9705391419 99p
9705521633 99p
a vast improvement
if i remember correctly someone was contacting ebay with a view to complaining. if so what was the response.
i obviously now know so hope my findings help our fight

Sadly complaining to eBay has fallen on corporate 'deaf' ears. I asked why despite having reported some sellers more thant five times they are still in posession of their accounts. eBay responded that the criteria for closing a sellers account was confidential and they could/would not discuss it.
However, the good news is that we have had a marked effect with a great many less sellers than we used to have although some are trying new tatctics such as claiming the data is not ours or not specifically mentioning the data on the listing although supplying it on the CD (I have no idea how this benefits them?).
Mat, I have now reported the listings you have alerted me to as well, I appreciate it _________________ Darren Griffin |

If you want to fund the illegal purchase of the database then you will have to live with it. (Yes I have even done this on ocasions just to nail the sellers, and subsequently shut them down what a shame)
If you want to download the database from a torrent site for free you will have to live with it (and the knowledge that the data could be seriously screwed up, and therefore useless ), it is like anything in modern life you get what you pay for.
Most people respect the site for what it is, and what it provides as a service if you don't like it please find an alternative as good as this sites offering at the price - Me thinks this will take some time to find
As for the cost, less than a pint in your local for a single month of data,
or less than a cup of tea/ coffee per day for a week, lets put this into real terms and a decent perspective - Mike |

oh and now it illegal elsewhere because you charge for it, id like to see it stand up in court mate i truley would, a publicly submitted database that you now claim to be yours, wheres the proof its yours, have you got permission from every person that submitted asking for there permission. your selling others info that you claim is yours, i for one would like to see you take someone to court over it, id like to hear a judges decision over this so called owed/illegal if it not from you database. it public domain info as far as i can see, its not software or a creation that you solely made or own, the only thing i can see is that the sumissions where uploaded to your site, does that make you the owner?
i can understand you feel your ,missing out on income, you saw ebayers making money from ot and thought im having some of that, makes you no different in my book. |
