What a cool app, I only wish I could do stuff like that.
Many thanks.
Now for enhancements?
Camera direction.
Flashing icons.
I will try out on the run to work in the morning.

I noticed this. I guess one is for the "overspeed" alert (i.e. BONG, BONG, BONG, BONG, etc when you are speeding) and the other is there to make the icon appear all the time you are doing over 1 mph (i.e. always appears regardless of speed but doesn't anyone the **** out of you if you are 1 mph over the limit.....) |

Heeeeeeeeeeeeeyyyyyyyyyyy!!!
I like it. The continuous BONG, BONG, BONG, BONG, is annoying enough to make me slow down but it's nice to see the camera location until you pass it. Didn't like the way it used to disappear when you dropped sub-alert speed. Also means you get a warning even when under the limit so you don't inadvertently put your foot down a few yards before a camera you didn't notice!!!
Timed alert distances are a nice feature too.
Any thoughts on adding the ability to convert other POI files (maybe separate application) so we can have the POI icons for non-speed camera files (i.e. petrol stations and Asda etc) appear when over 1 mph without being BONGed to death. It's a frequently asked question here. The built in proximity alert in the i3 causes the icon to appear but you also get BONG, BONG, BONG, BONG, BONG, BONG, BONG, so it's not very useful. |

Hi
I have been trying to use this software but I am having problems.
When you drag and drop the POI loader zip file into the application it comes up as successful but where do the files go ?
I have tried updating my I3 but the only POI's that are now loading are the original POI's that I originally had !
Any help would be appreciated.

The files are automatically copied to your POI directory.

It sounds like you have two sets of camera database files in your POI directory - the orginal CSV files, and the new GPX files.
Try deleting the original CSV files (ie: pocketgps_uk_gatso.csv etc) - that should do the trick. |

Ash
Thanks for quick reply. I have checked the files and they were definitely the GPX files.
Can you just confirm where the POI directory is. I had a folder set up for POI'S to be loaded. How would I get the new files from your software into this folder ?
Thanks again

Further to previous e mails the POI loader states that there are no csv files when trying to load the camera database and the only POI's that it is uploading are ones with csv in the file name !
Thanks

That sounds like you're not running the latest version of POI Loader - in which case you'll need to upgrade. |

Does it have to be the latest version to work - i.e. I have a camera database from Jan 06. It's the Garmin specific one with CSV files. When I try to drag and drop this into the app all I get is the bitmap files - it says that it has failed to unzip the CSV files I have the "Garmin\POI" directory. Any help appreciated. |

I have downloaded the updated POI loader and now I am getting the message that an original POI (National Trust sites) file which is csv, that I am trying to load along with the Speed Camera POI's is invalid.
Any suggestions ?

Howcome you've got an out-of-date version? It's only 2 quid to get the brand-spanking-new one... :P
The application just looks inside in dragged/dropped zipfile for the following files:
pocketgps_uk_gatso.csv
pocketgps_uk_mobile.csv
pocketgps_uk_redlight.csv
pocketgps_uk_specs.csv
pocketgps_uk_temp.csv
To be honest, I can't remember the exact format of the old database - if the one that you've got is different, copy these files into the "root" of a new zipfile. That should do the trick... ;) |

You'll need to tweak some of the old POI files - see the sticky threads at the top of the message list ;) |

yes - open the csv file in notepad and add a semi-colon ';' to the first line (with the headers: so it reads: ;longitude, latitude, name, details )
