|
|
Please Help - I have read all the recent posts & Dummy write up which are all fine but I am still confused about which files to use with the i3
As I understand I download the latest speed camera files from the pocketgpsworld database which I have done, but there are two files
Garmin UK PIOLoader and Garmin UK Speed Camera Zoned complete.
Do I need both sets of files & do I put the contents of them in the same folder as the Garmin PIOs one from MaFt.co.uk
I assume that then download & use the latest PIOloader and the Garmin USB drivers from the garmin site and folow the Dummy write up. Do I need PIO Edit from pioedit.com if I am just going to do a simple upload to the i3 with no mods |

the 2 files in the garmin option are either a single file (i.e. same icon for each speed camera and type) or speed-zoned (i.e. seperate icon per speed camera type).
put these in the same folder as any other poi's then use garmin poi loader to upload them. you don't need poi edit to do anything with them.

MaFt, Thanks for the quick response
So I only put one set of files into the folder - either the garmin option single file (i.e. same icon for each speed camera and type) or speed-zoned (i.e. seperate icon per speed camera type).
What would happen if both sets of files were put into the folder
Are the icons in the speed zoned file easily read on the screen or are they a little small
Is the bong the same for all types |

If both were in the folder and loaded onto your Garmin, you would have 2 entries for each camera, which would take priority I'm not sure.
As for the Zoned Icons, while navigating the Icon's will only show up if your going over the speed limit, the icons are pretty easy to recognise, although the mobile & specs icons take getting used to, the fixed camera ones also show the appropriate speed (ala a road sign).
The sound alert (in my experiance) is the same no matter what speed the camera is for, an inital sound when your nearing the camera and further beeps to tell you if your over the limit, it also displays the limit at top of the screen which is probably easier to read than the icon. |

I think they take equal priority and you get a sort of stuttered bong and the symbols sit on top of each other, at least that is what happened when I forgot to rename my files to MaFt's "zcamera" thing so I had 2 lots on at once.
I think some people have got some kind of hybrid of both files to get the symbols to appear all the time on the screen (or am I getting mixed up)

You are correct to an extent. I have the zoned files installed twice. once with and once without the speed limits. This would get the camera icons to show all the time (from the files without the @speed limit) and the continous alert when you are exceeding the speed limit (from the one with @speed). |
