This makes it a longer operation to pick the country you require. I think this is another glitch and I will email Garmin to let them know. |
Garmin's reply is that in some cases there may be 80 countries listed so the spell box, when selecting the country, is here to stay.
Nick. | This seems to work for me (I guess this is what you mean)...
Where To?
'Click'
Address
'Click'
'Click'
I can now scroll the list as before. |

Sorry but i can't see that as being anything other than laziness. Can't see the point. It won't save much time (~1 second) and I'd rather see Garmin concentrate on making the i3 run smoother and more reliably than worry about aesthetic changes like this.
Just my 2% of a £1..... |
Sorry Paul but spelling a country's name (and I am talking about the Beta version here) using the scroll wheel definitely takes more than 1 second unless you are superman. |

Ah sorry - didn't realise this had changed in the Beta.
First i would say raise this with Garmin. It might be an "unintended feature" (see also the other problem with the Custom POIs).
Secondly if this is in the Beta it doesn't mean it'll be in the final release either.
I don't find there is a problem with the old method you mentioned of scrolling down to England or Scotland. If i had to type it in (as per the Beta), yes i see the problem, but my comment was in relation to your comment on just simply scrolling down to the relevant country. |

On the Beta version you can use the back button and then scroll down so it is not as bad as I first thought.

And are you a representative of the GPS-using population of the USA? I would be grateful if you could please show me anywhere where it says that TomTom is bigger than Garmin in th US. |

Upgraded, but going to regress now. I've had two complete screen freezes which I never had with 2.7. |

I ran mine for 4 days on the beta version, I didn't get any screen freezes.
I changed back to 2.7 as the Custom POI sub categories was an issue for me.
When I changed back I couldn't get it to open up the map view screen but a hard reset sorted it out (in case anyone else has the same problem)

It should list the last country selected as the top of any list. Since 99% of the time you are going to use the same one next time.
Seems an obvious piece of good ergonomics to do that. |
