Cool, I can't wait for the review! At the moment I'm torn between this and the Globalsat. This does have better specs on paper but at least the Globalsat is a known performer! |

No, I missed that one! How does it compare to the others, and is it available yet? |

It will start shipping within the next few weeks, and I am sooooo excited about this receiver! It currently outperforms my Emtac/Socket BT GPS
Expect to see a full review next week! Also check the preview we have available.
I was expecting the Rikaline X7 in this week, but it hasn't arrived yet. |

Just found a review of the X7 by accident:
www.pocketpcreviews.net
Seems to be very favourable, although I doubt the reviewer has as much experience with BT GPS units as here What I do like about it is the long 16 hour battery life, and the fact that the battery is replaceable. You can't turn it off though, which seems a little strange! |

I can't wait to read your review Dave.
I hope you'll post it soon.

Bob. |

I've just got an X7 from Ebay, and it seems very good. My only concern is that it does seem to have a sort of delay on my Ipaq's screen which looks similar to what I've read about Xtrac devices. Not having an Xtrac I can't say for sure, but the delay is certainly more pronounced than with the Fortuna GPSmart that I used to have. Could this have something to do with the 'HS' (high sensitivity)? And can it be minimised in settings/firmware, I wonder? |

Dunno until we receive our unit for testing and review, ours is still currently stuck in the postal strike somewhere at a sorting office. :x |

It seems (from Gpspassion) that the X7 really is an Xtrac device. Maybe they called it HS before the term Xtrac was widespread. Anyway, it makes it more or less useless for driving. However I'm tempted not to return it to the vendor, as with 16 hours and a replaceable battery on an Xtrac device it must be the best possible solution for walking.
So now I suppose I'm thinking of buying another one just for the car. I hadn't considered two separate devices before. If you were getting a BT GPS just for the car, which would it be? (I don't want a CF receiver as my Ipaq 3970 doesn't have a CF slot, and I don't want to buy expansion jackets, cause I want minimum fuss when I get in the car. Likewise mouse-type receivers - don't want to be attaching wires etc).
Many thanks |

Peter,
Why not try a mouse type receiver attached to a Brodit active mount. I am currently using the Rikaline X5 and it is superb. There is no real issue of connecting wires as the whole thing is permanent and you would have to attach the powercable anyway.
That way you really do get the best of both worlds. I was a sceptic about mice until I did some testing a little while ago, now I am totally sold. I have 2 mice one in each of our cars. Problem is I use a 2210 and a 5450 so I dont use active mounts.
PS I tried contacting you via email the other day and your mailbox was full. Can you email me when it is clear and I will resend.
