Beer Hall? You're not telling me I've been missing out on a Beer Hall on site for the last three years |
You must be winding me up !? The 'Munchen Halle', nearby to hall 3....holds over 3000 drinkers....spend a tenner, you can even conduct one of the ompah bands...(or watch the Orientals instead!)
ps They even do a decent/reasonable, (for Hanover), breakfast in there as well. And watch out for the fraulein ladies with their big bicepts holding half a dozen or so big steiners each !! And to eat, you MUST go for the Pork knuckle....enjoy ! |

That's where we are taking you on Saturday night Darren. Remember those nice people from the Foreign Office who invited us to exhibit with them this year. Well they've kindly invited us to join them for the evening at the Beer Hall. They'll be bands and traditional German serving girls. You like that sort of thing don't you? But remember, you're not allowed to drink too much or touch the girls. We all remember what happened last time, don't we.
Editor note: We don't let Darren out very often, he gets a bit confused |

Another neat trick the Hanoverians have is a drink called a Lutjen Lager (or something like that, not sure about the spelling).
Basically, it is a small beer (either a 0.25cl or 0.33cl glass) held between the thumb and forefinger of one hand with a measure of schnapps held between the forefinger and middle finger of the same hand. Start supping the beer whil keeping the mouth wide and let the schnapps tip into your mouth at the same time as the beer! Some of the locals can manage three schnapps to one beer by utilising all the spaces between their fingers. Fascinating to watch, devastating to imitate! _________________ - - - - - - - - -

I'm trying to decide whether to delete this post or not. Darren is still at CeBIT. The last time I saw him (worryingly, he looks quite good in lederhosen) was Saturday night at the 'Munchen Halle'. For all I know he is still there.
If you're reading this Darren, the above post should not be taken as an encouragement - it is just a snippet of local interest. |

! Never let it be said that I turn down hospitality. However that was two days ago and I'm still paying for those beers! Just got back to the UK and need a lie down! _________________ Darren Griffin |
