That is fine mikealder. Lets be honest, ebay should be doing more here. If I tried to sell copyrighted material in a shop or market, I would be shut down pretty quickly.

Absolutely, they seem to wash their hands of any responsibility - maybe trading standards should be consulted for the UK site? |

I think that they believe it is the sellers responsibility to ensure the items are legit not theirs. However, they seem happy to take the fees that it costs to put these items on ebay (I know that if the auction gets closed, they don't keep the fees but what proportion gets shut down??)
I looked three times yesterday, and every time, there were more auctions from the same person, selling the same info.

A long time ago that indeed was our intention, though we never wrote it in stone.
Thousands of working hours have been spent (and ongoing) obtaining, compiling, collating, validating, editing, formatting, distributing, supporting and improving upon the database.
We make a qualitatively and quantitatively substantial investment in the collection, assembly, verification, organization and presentation of the contents and a significant investment in human, financial and technical resources.
The project became much larger and time consuming and we had to adjust.

Only just got back from CeBIT in Hannover, despite it being the world's largest IT fair the communications were dire!
I'll get onto all these first thing tomorrow, thanks to all

Those who 'proivided' the data get Free lifetime membership. If you contributed prior to 1st Jan 06 then you qualify, did you?
As for 'we mostly provided the data' the truth is we compiled a databse of nearly 4,500 sites before we went live with it, so we actually compiled the majority of the data!
