Help!!!! My TomTpmGo3 takes such a long time to get a valid GPS system now. It is only about 3 months old - I have not used it a lot ... except for lately and espec today when I needed it it would not 'play' for nearly 15 mins - good job I really knew the way! I had come out of Heathrow Tem 2 - had selected where I wanted to go from my Favourites and it just stuck on the last place I had been to. In fact as we speak now - it thinks I am still somewhere else - and has not picked up a valid GPS signal! What am I doing wrong please?? I have checked in my little book and it does not tell me so I am hoping desp that someone out there knows what to do?? So - it has been switched on for about 15 mins and has not picked up a signal! many thanks. Maggie

Nothing wrong so far. If you don't use the device for a while all the base information on where the sats are gets invalid, and needs to be reloaded. This can take up to 12 minutes when stationary with good sky view. When you are moving you make this task even more difficult.

Once it has that data, subsequent fixes should be much quicker.

Yep,

My TT300 will not initially lock on to satellites unless I am stationary every time I use it. Once locked on to 4 sats its fine for the remainder of the journey.

The satellite ephemeris data (positional information list) for each satelite needs to be downloaded and stored in the GPS and as this runs at a very low data rate and the signal is quite weak anyway, it can take a while especially if you are moving.
