Globalsat sd-502 gps cant get it to work with navigator 5

I have tomtom navigator 5 and just recently purchased the globalsat sd-502 sd card gps. I had it working once and then shut it down and now I cant get it to connect. The gps has 5-8 satelites connected to it but I cant get navigator to recognize the gps. It worked once on 'other cable nmea' with bluetooth on discoverable but it hasnt worked since. Could someone give me the settings for navigator. Thanks I appreciate it.

Make sure the receiver is programmed to emit NMEA sequences. TomTom doesn't understand SiRF.

would you be able to tell me how to program it to do that or can it not be changed. mike barrett got this to work with tomtom navigator and did a review on it that said it was really good.
