Well, in that case, it would be helpful if you could list what features you think you may need in a GPS unit - then we might be able to form a considered opinion?
For eg - the i3 cannot 'deliberately re-route enroute' easily (ie. traffic avoidance) or use more than one waypoint at a time - if that is likely to be important to you??
As a basic unit, it is very capable - and if all you want to do is get from A to B in the UK, probably can't be bettered *for the price*, if you can find it for £120 or less, IMHO.
Horses for courses...

ok im looking for a gps that will take me from a-b
then when im there reload it and take me to a-b
also if i missed a turn a reroute would be handy
also to avoid narrow roads would be nice
and portable as could not leave in cab
p.s does the garmin recharge rechargeable batteries ? |

OK - sounds like the i3 will do all that stuff just fine - but will not recharge internal batts.
Also has a PSV mode - plus truck - and am guessing that these will keep you out of tight lanes...
I'd say give one a go...after all - you can always eBay it again if it doesn't quite suit?
I'm certainly very pleased with mine (light commercial / field salesman car usage)

Oh - and re: Tight roads - if you do decide to get an i3 - try to make sure it has the version 8 maps - as these have apparently been 'cleaned up' in that version...you can tell which version unit is preloaded with as will state v8 next to the barcode on the base of the box (ask the seller first if eBaying).

Garmin have hinted that they will be providing V8 maps FOC for those that bought i3s with V7 maps, however, it's gone very quiet with regard to that. I would assume that there's a cost implication for Garmin in terms of licencing. _________________ Chas

Sorry, didn't really answer the question did I I wouldn't buy, there are plenty out there with V8, wouldn't surprise me if the Maplin ones were now V8. Might be an idea to ask them again? _________________ Chas
