Hi
I have been running TT5 (5.21) very successfully on my iPAQ 2210 for many weeks now, but this morning when I came to start it up it won't load. It gets as far as the icon on the bottom of the screen and the words "TomTom Navigator" across the top and then hangs. If I remove the SD Card and try and open it up it opens OK but gives me the Legal Notice and says it can't find the maps (which is exactly correct).
It worked last night and doesn't work now. Can't think I changed anything but thought OK I'll reinstall one of my sprite backups this installed OK but pda is still doing same thing. I have also tried copying data off SD card formating SD Card and then copying data back on but this hasn't helped.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Hi gacrane
I haven’t come across the trouble that you describe before, however all is not lost. At the very worst you could always do a Hard Reset and reinstall the Tomtom programme.
But the backup bit baffles me. Did you do a Backup when your PDA was running ok? If you did then it should restore perfectly.
If on the other hand you did a backup when the trouble had already arisen then the restore would be next to useless. _________________ Tomtom Go 720.

Hi Trevor1234
I have several back ups all of which are well before this issue started and all of which (Well the three I've tried) have the same problem after reinstalling. I'm rapidly coming to the conclusion it is something to do with the SD card but I can't think why it should suddenly go like that. Mind you all other things on the SD Card work fine. I'm just trying a different SD Card copying the files over as I type I'll keep you informed. But I'm still open to any ideas. |

Hi gacrane
Yes, you have a right puzzle on your hands. In the past (just for something to do) I have done a hard reset followed by a Sprite restore and everything has worked perfectly. Just to give you an example I have even gone back to TT3 and it ran just fine. I have a 2210 (same as you) and the only difference is that I use a CF card. Anyway, in your position I would now do a Hard Reset and install again. If it doesn’t work then it must be a hardware fault. _________________ Tomtom Go 720.

I had this very problem and followed the steps you had taken. I eventually found that re-installing the Maps on to the SD card from the CD fixed the problem.

Well I reinstalled the maps on my new clean SD Card this did solve the problem but I have now worked out the original problem. Some how the Traffic.ini file was corupt and this stopped the maps loading. After I deleted this file from my old SD Card everything worked again so after all the long job I finally found that if I'd have know this at the start it would have only take the deletion of one file oh well. |
