|
|
Hi .... I received the answer to my previous post which asked if there was a substantial difference between Windows Mobile for Smartphone and Windows Mobile for PPC. The answer of course was, yes. Doh!. However my helper also suggested that if I want to solve my TT woes I might search out the possibility of turning my edition of TT Mobile 5 into Navigator 5 by installing the free TT Navigator upgrade over the top of TT Mobile. Does anyone have info on this? Anyone had any success? I am trying to see if I can use my TT 5 for Smartphones software successfully on a Qtek 9100 (K-Jam O2 Mini exec etc etc)
Thanks BB |

TTNavigator and TTMobile are different versions - one supports touchscreen, the other not. You cannot mix them.
The K-Jam is NOT a smartphone - it is a Pocket PC Phone Edition, and will only run TTNav properly. _________________ Lutz

Thanks Lutz.... I was just wondering whether installing the freely downloadable upgrade of Navigator over the top of Mobile 5 would actually give you a working copy of Navigator? It wasn't my idea, a reply to my earlier post (TT5 and Qtek9100) had suggested it as a possibility.
Thanks for the help. |

no, won't work. Anyhow, there are no upgrades in TomTom land, only full installs - no matter what "they" try to tell you. _________________ Lutz

i have changed my tt mobile 5 into navigator
i used to have a spv500 running tt mobile 5 with the gb map all purchased from tt
i have installed it on a o2xda which is a pda typa phone
i just swapped the memory card from the spv 500 into the xda mini
when it tried to instal it obviously wontbecause of windows m 5 and a pdatype system
downloaded the navigator update from tt support site it and installed it on my card hey presto tt mow works
you will of course have to activate it but if you have your original actvation code it should work mine did
i have had no problems with it since have been using for over three weeks now not hung once
if you have a pc and a card reader
why dont you back up your installation to the pc so you will have a working copy then try it and see if it will work
it costs nothing to try and if it doesnt you can just reinstall the backup to the card and away you go again

Yes it does work, the maps, voices, poi's & postcodes are cross platform. I did this to upgrade from my nokia 6600 to my XDA mini S. The voices for mobile have a sampling rate of 16KHz and navigator voices are 22KHz. Although this wasn't a problem on my XDA mini S, I did download the 22KHz voices from tomtom later (the main ones are free), as the quality is better. You will have to reactivate your map though, tomtom allows you to reactivate on another device after 6 months from the previous activation IIRC. |

Here's how I think I did it!
From the storage card from the nokia 6600, I copied folders,
Great_Britain-Map
VOICES
TOMTOM (COPY EVEN IF EMPTY!)
zip
onto the storage card of my XDA.
I then downloaded the 5.21 navigator update & installed it on my phone through activesync.
I then ran the program, activated the map & paired my BT receiver.
Let me know how it goes, good luck! |
