Hi, i am opening this thread to see if we can hopefully concisely set out the reason(s) and fix(es) to this problem. I have briefly swept the web and it seems common, and i myself have had this happen on both my current phone (9500), and two previously (6670 and 6680). I've also heard of people having the same problem with tomtom navigator as well, so i'm assuming the problem is with the tomtom software itself?
The problem is tomtom seems to be fussy about staying paired with the gps device. It happens with 'other' gps, not sure if the tomtom one does it as well. As far as i've experimented, i pair the gps to phone, then opened tomtom and configured it via 'other' in the preferences, then it works fine, every time i use it.
However, so far i have found two things that cause a problem. First, i have a pioneer DEH-P70BT bluetooth stereo in the car, which behaves i believe as a headset. If i connect this first, and then the gps, i start tomtom and it won't have none of it! The way i fix this is connect the gps and start tomtom, and THEN connect the stereo. Then its fine.
Second cause- if i start tomtom up and have recently used the phone's bluetooth to pair with another device, like another phone or whatever, this seems to cause the same trouble, tomtom won't see a gps device anymore. This as far as i can see seems to be caused by doing anything which results in the 'last devices found' box not containing the entry for the gps device. Although the device is still paired, tomtom won't have it if the device wasn't included in the last search.
In any case, the way this problem is fixed once it occurs, is by shutting tomtom down, going into the phone's paired devices, deleting the gps device, re-search, re-pair, set it to auto authorise connection, start tomtom again, goto prefs, gps status, configure, other gps, select the device when it asks, and then it should be ok, but what a hassle!!!!
This is rather frustrating, and i am hoping tomtom have already recognised this problem and are fixing it (i believe the latest 5.2 tomtom mobile still has the problem).
Any help with this would be much appreciated, for a lot of users by the looks of it!!!
That's too much work, deleting, repairing, etc... Use any registry editor such as Resco regedit, modify one key and you are on your way again. I don't have my phone with me right now but I will take a look and tell you what key to modify. I am using Resco Regedit because it can remember the last key you have entered; therefore, I don't have to search for it again. Just a few quick key presses and you are done.
