|
|
Hi all
I'm new to all this sat nav stuff, and have found this site very interesting and wondered if anyone if possible could help me out please.
I have just purchased a Goodmans GNAV10 which has the Destinator OP software on it, is there anyway if possible to add speed/safety cameras onto this software, if there is i would be very grateful if someone could help me out and give me step by step instructions on how to install these on to my sat nav.
Do i need special software?, etc
Please remember im not clued up on this subject so please be gentle.
many thanks, hope to get a reply soon. |

Hi , to download the speed camera data base go to the link below. http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/uksafetycameras.php
Click on "Download the database" found under the yellow speed camera banner.
Save the download to your desktop
once downloaded :-
open the folder 'pocketgps-uk-sc-oct05'
open folder 'Single file version'
open folder 'csv file'
open folder 'destinator 3'
there you will find an microsoft excel file 'pocketgps-uk-sc'
I assume you have got the Destinator console running on your PC or Laptop. If not install it from your Destinator disc No.1, along with 'active sync' which came with the Goodmans unit
Connect Goodmans unit to your PC or Laptop. via USB
Active Sync will start to run when connected.
choose the option "No" "connect as a guest"
Open the Destinator console (found in programs)
Click on the UK & Ireland map (text)
Click on the 'Favorites Importer'
Search for the input file 'pocketgps-uk-sc' on your PC or Laptop.
Click on convert
Click on download
Once downloaded to your sat nav unit, start the unit and the destinator software, go to the 'Favorites folder', there you will see the camera database, check the box next to it. It may take several minutes for the Goodmans screen to show a display screen as it now has to configure the position of some 8000 cameras, so be patient.
Once up and running, See other threads in this forum about customizing Destinator Wav files and icons.
Good luck ! _________________ Sat Nav Unit - TomTom One (Reigns supreme !) |

The favorites warning voice file is named 141 and can be found in the following directory on your mobile device:
Resident Flash/DestinatorApps/Destinator/Common/Interface/Voice/All
So plug the gnav10 into the pc and browse it for this location. The files in the all folder will either be .wav or .spx format.
Any voice file that you want to use to replace the favorites alert. Make sure it is either wav or spx. rename it 141 and drag it into the all folder to replace the old 141 file.
You will then get your preffered warning alert.
If you need to convert wav to spx download tool here:
http://www.rarewares.org/files/others/speexdropV0.0.8-1.0.5.zip
Any trouble, pm me your email address and I will send you some alternate voice warnings in both formats.

No problem, Cobbie
When you get into your favorites. check the box at the side of your catergory with cams in. This will then show all he contents of that catergory in the map with the icon you select.
To change icon, highight caterory.select tools and edit. scroll to fin the icon you want and save settings.
You can add icons to that list by dragg and drop with your bmp files into the following directory on your mobile device:
Resident Flash/DestinatorApps/Destinator/Common/Favorites
There is a folder with the alternate icons in that is with the speed camera datbase that you downloaded from pocketgps. if you don't still have it on your pc i'll email you the folder.

Call me thick if you want to, but how do i put voices on my gnav10 for the cameras. Getting sick of `favourites alert` all the time. |
