Hi folks, interesting thread. I live in Sheffield, and South Yorkshire police have a major drive on theft from vehicles at the moment. Their advice is not to leave *anything* on display. You might find the link interesting:
I personally take their advice, but as my satnav is a relatively heavy and bulky StreetPilot III I lock it in my camper van's safe. The scrotes might get it, but it's going to take them some time and effort, firstly to find the safe, then break it open. I've got a stick on mount on the dash, so I can't take that with me. However, I leave a screen cleaning cloth over it, the only thing I leave on display as it were. I don't even leave my tatty atlas on view, as a friend once had his car broken into for his sandwich box on the seat!
