As winter is still here does anyone ride in extreme cold ie feezing conditions? and what effect does it have on your sat nav?
I was thinking the screen may get sluggish and as i use the battery power on my Quest it may not last long.
Thanks .....Jives _________________ Garmin Quest1 Ram Mount Z750 XR400 |

Went out this a.m. on my KTM Adv 950. TT5 Axim X5 fine, could hear it via the autocom but couldn't see it
FREEZING FOG was so bad I could watch it freezing in waves on my visor. Had to reort to open visor riding, ended up with eyes like this 8O . Couldn't see all so set it to Nav to home to give me a countdown to the junctions so I had an idea where they were 8O 8O
Gave up after about 20mile, went home only for it to get clear and okay after about an hour.

Yeah, I ride in all weather.
I have used the Quest on my bike a few times when it was really cold, but not long enough to test the battery performance. The battery should last about 18 hours so I would probably lose the will to live before the Quest would give up!
I have used by old Garmin GPS-V in New York when it was -8 degrees. I was walking not riding though!
Garmins waterproof units are designed for the outdoors and all weather conditions so you can rely on them to be fairly dependable. _________________ Gone fishing! |

I ride all year round anyway. It rains more than it's cold in the uk but lately it has been pretty chilly. Don't have a mounting kit for my quest yet but that will be sorted soon.
I've been lucky enough to have only caught one really icy morning so far. I am so looking forward to the summer it hurts. |

I've used a Garmin i3 in a freezer bag in freezing fog, icy roads, heavy rain, no problems at all, even though it's a bottom of the range GPS.
They're tough, just make sure if it's not waterproof that there's no way for water to get to it!
GPS is very handy in 20m visibility fog so you can see what's coming up :D |

Only two things keep me off the road - freezing fog (eyes like 8O once was enough for me, plus I had to take my specs off as well as open the vizor so I didn't really know what was going on more than 3ft in front) and snow on the road. No experience of my satnav in the cold though because I don't use it routinely on my ST1100.

Same here, almost all weathers. Not noticed any problems with my medion - even in the cold. |
