|
|
hi, i'm trying to copy the whole folder of the map to the SD card and files like cline, cnode, cname, faces cannot be copied... It says 'cannot convert the file' or cannot copy the file and suggest to check if its read only or card has sufficient space... well, I checked everything and it looks ok...
i'm using activesync and usb cable.... maybe I should try via digital camera? i don't have the reader...
do You guys have any idea what is the problem ?
I will be grateful to get some advice, I received this tool from my company and next I'm going for a trip around Europe... really need it...

I would seriously recommend that you go out and get a card reader, not only does it get rid of the active sync being in the loop, so you can copy between the PC and the card, or the other way around, the primary reason is due to speed and reliability - they don't cost much (less than £15 for a basic one) - Mike |

yes, i think you are right, now 2 files went through ok, but the third one keeps looping and looping and it starts all over again from the beginning... if this reader will help I will go out in a moment and get one...
thank you very much for your quick reply |

ActiveSync is far better than a card reader for reliability, and yes it does look like it has started again, but it hasn't (just the screen box refreshing itself), it just takes a long time to do those files.
50% of card readers will not work with PDA/Cameras/MP4 players & SD/MMC cards etc. The manufacturers know it but don't tell anybody, some have firmware updates but most don't.
If you purchase one and it works then you are in the lucky 50% that do, there seems to be no combination that's 100% OK, windows xp, the card reader & the card make and type all have to gel to work ok.
There are 1000's of people with digital cameras out there that have cards now not usable in their cameras due to using card readers to delete files & format them. |

|
|
i was at the supermall and they had some of those readers, but i don't know why i did not buy one... i came back home and started copying again, it went through OK... so maybe i will stick to active sync solution... after all you will not be copying these maps often... it's just a one time performance i guess... so thank you for the advices.... now i have another problem, not enough space on the card for all the countries i need... is there any possibility to cut the map, the way You can do it in Destinator? for instance I need only small part of France and half of the Italy... is it possible to have only a part of the country loaded??
thanks,
Tom |

No. Within the TT mapping there is only country specific maps as a unit. There is no facility to break it down further to sub-units. _________________ Richard
