The Quest2 has postcode search (just enter a postcde instead of a town name), but since I am in the Netherlands I can only say it can use the full 9999AA postcode here.
If you give me something to search for, I can verify it for you. ;) _________________ Robert Elsinga =8- )

The Quest 2 has full UK post code search if you upgrade to software version 2.50. From other posts in the quest forum there have been a few problems with the updated software. From what I understand a newer version that will correct the bugs in 2.50 will be available soon. I have left my Quest 2 at 2.40.
You can still type in the first few parts of a postcode such as BS 34 8. This will then list all roads in that postcode area. It's usefull but not perfect. But you may like to take a chance and download 2.50 and see how you get on. Elsinga's website has all of the most recent software updates on there, so if you want to downgrade you can always do so.
Hope this helps

Software should be either 3.40 or 3.50 of you want full post code search.
I must be suffering from Monday afternoon mis- keyitis

I am experiencing a few problems with 2.50 (including slow map draw and endless re-calculation together with the odd POI problem) so I emailed Garmin asking how long before an update and this is what they said!
"I have not ear any problem with the quest 2 with using the POI's I would reload the file again from the website. I we don't know when the next upgrade will be coming out"

I've just upgraded mine to Firmware version 2.50 as I wanted the postcode search. All seems fine so far, but I have only tested it for a few miles.
Thanks for the advice above, couldn't figure out how to search for postcodes till I read this as it is not mentioned on any menu. On that note, I must say that I have found the Quest 2 less than intuative to use, but once you do manage to find the features you want, it's great. My opinion of it is growing daily. Just ordered a mount/cabling kit too for my motorbike, we're off to Croatia in three weeks, so need to get it fitted asap. I'll report back on how it performs. |
