Do not put the file in any folder. It needs to go in the main directory and be called splash.bmp |

NO! Sorry, you're wrong there.
As has been mentioned loads of times, some if not all, Windows computers are shipped with the three letter file extensions "hidden" (to avoid confusing people? ).
Therefore, it is really easy to accidently call the file splash.bmp.bmp without ever being able to see that you have.
To get rid of this annoying behaviour once and for all, go to the "Tools" menu in Windows Explorer or My Computer, select "Folder Options...", then on the "View" tab go to the 10th box down in the "Advanced settings" box and UN-tick "Hide extensions for known file types". |

The root folder is the first folder you come to when accessing the card |

TTg connected
my computer
double click on tomtomgo(E) device
I've got 6 folders (licences, scripts etc)
11 other items system, install bif, current map etc
I also previously had a splash file (the one I was trying to replace)
now then - I can put new files into this location (tomtomgo (E)) as bitmaps (24k) right size image, rotated 90 degrees to the right, called splash.
but they do not appear on my tomtom screen when powering up nor down.
so what exactly am i doing wrong?
to make my image appear as a bmp I'm exporting my jpeg image into bmp format.
is that correct? _________________ RX-8 going BEEP since 19/3/2004

The file size starts out at 320x240 and is rotated to be 240x320 |
