is it possible - via map upgrades or whatever - and obviously a larger SD card to achieve - i just prefer the look of the One unit (and the fact that it has the better reciever in it) but have a need for routing from the UK to Austria, Switzerland or Italy in one hit
Thanks |

Thanks Tim - does this work in the same way as the 700 in that I will not have to switch maps as I go across borders as I have to currently with TTN 5 - any ideas if TT are going to offer this with the One unit - else I'll end up buying both and just ditching the map data that comes with the TT One unit |

If you click on the Features heading on the TomTom page, it says, among other things, "one big map". With TomTom you can't navigate across map boundaries, but as this is one map, not several small ones, it will do exactly what you want. _________________ Tim |

A bit of a failing in the Tomtom I think, my old Navman icn510 allowed me to select the areas of Europe (and areas within countries) I wanted onto a suitably sized SD card and navigate door to door, rather than having to have the entire European map on a large and expensive 2GB card like Tomtom.
Definitely a feature I'd like to see in V6 of the software. |

So how big a card do you need - is a 1Gb enough or does it have to be 2Gb? |

It will not fit on a 1Gb card. I seem to recall reading that the suplied card was 1.5Gb (custom size?) but can't find any reference to support that recollection. It will certainly fiton a 2Gb card. _________________ Tim |

I very much doubt it will fit on a 256MB card (1Gb = 256MB) but will be fine on a 2GB card. |

Can you clarify 1Gb=256Mb? Most people hold the theory that 1Gb=1Gb! (1024Mb) _________________ Tim |

The problem with pedantically pointing out an error is that you usually make another one yourself.
What I mean to type (honest) was that 2Gb = 256MB |

8 bits = 1 byte
1024 bytes = 1 kb
1024 kb = 1 mb
1024 mb = 1 gb |
