Have been reading this forum with interest over the last couple of months knowing I was having an i3 for Xmas.
Over the last few days it has had a few tests.
On Boxing day we decided to find a 'Little Chef' we had never been to before using the POI's downloaded from Mafts site.
Was slightly confused....it got us there but the Little Chef no longer exists...its a Chinese takeaway now!
Today decided to go to the cinema but the film we wanted to see was not on locally but was on in Birmingham.....35 miles away. A good test for it I thought and it got us there ok and warned of speed cameras etc.
On the way home we decided to find another little chef that the i3 was saying was near the cinema.....it took us down a single lane and said the Little Chef was in the middle of a field!
Decided to just go home and not far into this we came to a halt on the A38 which had been closed due to an accident and we had to take a detour. The i3 just kept trying to turn us around and back onto the closed A38.
I try'd the 'detour' setting but that appeared to be doing the same thing.
In the end we just kept going through countless 'recalculating' prompts and it did get us back on to the a38 a bit further up.
Is that the best way to detour? just keep driving?
All in all, I'm VERY impressed with this bargain. My Dad has a Tom Tom One for Xmas and apart from the larger screen I can't see any need to spend the extra. |

Yes, pretty much. Eventually it will get the message and find you an alternative route. It would be nice if the unit realised that the road was blocked and you really didn't want to get back on your original route though!
As for not finding the Little Chef, were you really that upset?
You might want to notify MaFt of the errors and they can be fixed. _________________ Gone fishing! |

Yeah cheers...I've sent the mail.
Just had a look at the map for the Birmingham one and it does show it in the middle of the field. |
