I'm looking for a mount solution that works for me.

I would like a mount that, if possible, is fully removeable and if not fully removeable, as discrete as possible to as to avoid unwanted attention when the car is unattended.

I would like to avoid a windscreen mount as I do not want my view of the road impeded.

I am thinking about a vent mount or failing that something like a brodit proclip.

Has anyone got any suggestions??

What is the vent clip in the Tomtom alternative mount kit like? Can it be removed easily?

Can Brodit clips be removed regularly or are they meant to be left in place?

Can the Tomtom alternative mount be used with the proclip, or is it best to use the brodit tomtom mount?

All thoughts would be welcome

You could always go for the really cheap option (as I have Wink ) and stick a couple of bits of velcro on the bottom of your TT, the other bits on the dash, et voila! I have a good place for mine - not all dashboards will have a good place to do this. But all I have to do is go the car, quickly place the TT on to the velcro and I'm off! :D

With the TT One that would mean you can't charge it while it is on the velcro.

Good idea though

I think maybe he means velcro on the back of the unit?

This would then work a treat - good idea!!

Yep - on the bottom of 300/500/700 and the back of the One. :D

Happy New Year :P

Have tried this approach but a shame that back of the One has slight curve - it would feel a lot firmer if flat at back but as it is only a little of the velcro is effectively attached.

I've found an excellent position in BMW 3 series using 'windscreen' mount is in lower dash corner of driver's door window (so down near the door mirror).

Of course glass flat here so a very firm fix, but more important in this position your eyes hardly leave road to check screen, which obscures neither view through screen nor of door mirror - the TT is in line with 'dead' vision area in line with base of screen pillar so zero impact on vision. You can also make any screen inputs without stretching.

Of course you have to remember to remove it before winding down window for car park ticket, but a good aide memoire to remove it anyway when you leave your car! In some vehicles this position has a quarter pane which doesn't wind down with window so even more convenient.

I may try the 'alternative' mount stuck on top of dash b ut am concerned that the sticker you need to put on top of dash is another giveaway for thieves.

well, i got a go 300, and found a very easy way to mount just using the base clip and pushing it into my right side air grill....just wondering though, with heating on in winter, and hot air blasting right onto the back of the device, it does get pretty hot to the touch(the back)...can this cause problems for the unit?

It wouldn't be the best thing for it (or the battery) I guess. Why not turn off the air grille?

Thanks for the suggestion, but I'm not sure the velcro on back solution will word for the One as this is where the speaker and placing the speaker against the facia will probably "muffle" the speaker slightly

There also isn't anywhere obvious in a Mondeo to attach the velco to.

(I'm also not particularly keen on "sticking" things to the TT One or dashboard)
