the map that is installed on your GO is already activated, and the activation key is stored on the device. If you add new mpas, or completely reformat the hard disk and start over then you will be asked to re-activate. _________________ Lutz

Hi Lutz
Is the activation key stored on the device or the maps in the SD Card?
What happens if you lose the activation key or the product code to get the activation key i dont have a problem at the moment but if i do i won't be able to get my activation key as i have lost/misplaced my product code.

Losing your product key is indeed a bad thing. You will need to explain that to TomTom, together with a proof of purchase, and ask them for a replacement key.
The activation key is obviously stored together with the maps. On the Linux units it seems to be linked to the Device ID AND to the SD card ID, so even switching SD cards may not be possible if you don't have your Product Key. _________________ Lutz

You can store the information on TomTom's Website under My Products. It can be retrieved/changed whenever it's needed. _________________ Richard

The 700 should be ready to go, straight out of the box. It's great how easy it is to use and set up. Good luck. |
