|

I've got a Compaq Aero 2160 (running Windows CE 2.11) which has been gathering dust in the attic for a couple of years, and I'm trying to work out whether I can turn it into a car-based navigation system (with something like a Magellan SporTrak). The problem I'm having is I can't seem to find any mapping/routing software that will work (or claims to work) on such an old PDA.
Can anyone suggest anything, or am I going to need to a more up-to-date PDA?
Thanks,

Before you go into software you need to find a way to connect the PDA and GPS.
I do not think there is any cable for it though you can use serial cable>null modem>serial cable.
You will be better off getting a more up-to-date PPC, not necessarily the most recent ones. _________________ Pc-Mobile

I think you might as well give up with the Aero. There's very little CE 2.11 software available now. Pocket PC 2000 and 2002 are CE 3.00 based, Pocket PC 2003 is CE 4.20 based.
You're going to need a more up to date PDA for navigation. Something like a HP iPAQ 2210 or Dell Axim X5 would be a good choice at the lower cost end. The iPAQ 1940 is no good for your proposed application, as it has no serial port.

Hmm...had a feeling that might be the case. Oh well, the Aero can go back into the attic.
Thanks for the help,
