|
|
Looks like the new Mio has some software compatibility problems, I have just seen this on Global Positioning Systems website -
Compatibility with TomTom & CoPilot Navigation software
Please note: Due to problems during the set-up of this product we must advise customers that the Mio A201 is not compatible with the above mentioned software. For this reason we have withdrawn our Mio A201 bundles.
We are actively researching a solution to this issue
Hope it's sorted soon as I might get replace the 168 but it will need to work with TT5 first. |

Not kidding, I just took delivery of a Mio A201, I have my own TomTom SW, lo and behold 3 days and 4 late nights, I cannot get the SW installed. (when i insert the activation code - it informs me that it is incorrect, on selecting 'done' it then displays a new (second) device code!!). Any advice on this one. |

Cheers! but yes i have tried that - it takes me through the full setup proceduere then informs me that my activation code is incorrect (which i know it is not - confirmed by Tom Tom). THe setup procedure then displays a new (second device code). |

Just bought a Mio 201 and TT5. Also can't install. Have downloaded and installed the 5.21 patch. Tomtom symbol present on the Today screen, when pressed it tries to load and shows tomtom symbol in the lower task bar, then flips back to Today screen with no symbol in task bar.
All ideas gratefully received.
Thanks. |

I guess it will be a case of waiting for a patch from either Tom Tom or Mio Methinks .
Sure they will sort it soon |

Thing is, I contacted Mitac Supprt Direct - the informed me that the TT5 issue is not with them but with the software manufacturer (Tom Tom).
I then contaced TT suport - who would only inform me that this particular model is not yet on their supported list. - Okay we already know this so what next? Well i am cuurently trying to resolve this issue myself - any joy and i will post it right away.[/quote] |

Sorry! - i have got over the 'Looping Problem' that you guys are having.
1) Extract the navupd521 file into a folder on your desktop.
2) Using Active Sync - run through the update procedure.
3) On thePDA / My Device/Program Files/Navigator - Insert or replace the Tom Tom Navigator exe file with the same file from the extracted 521 folder on your desktop.
This worked for me- initilally i executed tom tom from the ///Navigator folder. (but i still have problems with my Activation Code.)
Anyway best of luck you guys. |

One note:: where i stated:-
3)On thePDA / My Device/Program Files/Navigator - Insert or replace the Tom Tom Navigator exe file with the same file from the extracted 521 folder on your desktop.
(the file you are looking for will be in the folder My Device/ My Documents/ PocketPc). Insert this file into the Navigator folder as detailed. |

Hi I'm a new member, and also just received a new a 201.I had the same trouble activating my tt5 software! Tried 3 clean installs and on the 3rd got the second device I.D. up first, rang tom tom and got a second activation code and now it's up and running great. Tom tom online were no help at all and implied it was impossible to get 2 codes and said I'd tried to install it on 2 PDA's and wouldnot give support to the A 201 as it was incompatable with tt5. Well mine's working great!!!!! |

For what it's worth, I got Tomtom 5 to work with no problems at all. I didn't install the V5 software, but installed the 5.21 update as the 5.0 software just refused to run on Windows Mobile 2005.
Added the maps - and away I went - the only problem that I came across was trying to get the GPS to work - mainly because it goes against the grain for me to let the device manage it's own COM ports for the GPS. However, using the "manage gps automatically" setting under the "Access" tab in the GPS settings, and then using the GPS_HWCOM: port at 4800, it seems to be flawless so far - really fast at picking up a signal - even first time out of the box and indoors against the window too! |
