I've just upgraded to Copilot 6 on a Mio 168, and from starting copilot 6 from the splash screen and welcome voice it takes two minutes to boot to the next screen, nevermind the wait to acquire a satellite fix.
Is this normal?
Last software was CP4 and that was a lot faster |

If you have dropped in say 6 or 7 thousand speed cameras, this could take up to about 2 minutes to be incorporated into CP6. But generally speaking it shouldn't take longer than 10-15 seconds to fully load. But that is on mine and I have the speed cameras, plus all the POI that you can get off this website, through the POIedit program. Thats a lot of POI. But it definitely doesn't take any more than 10-15 seconds.
Any time you drop some new POI onto your PPC, it will always take a while longer the first time you open CP6. After that it returns to normal. |

Thanks Steve for the pointer. I loaded a spare card with just the UK maps and no custom POI's and it loaded in 10 seconds. If I want all the info and Spanish maps as well I will have to live with a slow boot up. |

If you are tired of the "Welcome to CoPilot" message, as all my office colleagues were, delete or rename the file Windows\CPWelcome.wav
Or replace it with your favorite startup noise and use that filename for it. _________________ Doug

To reduce the possibility of unforseen problems, it is probably safer to replace rather than delete. Even if the replacement is simply a second of silence! |
