First steps - have you changed anything on the SD card? Installed additional voices, POIs etc?
Have you tried resetting the unit (using the little pen hole on the base next to the connector)? This solves a variety of ills...

Sounds like a call to Tomtom Support is required, unless the unit is less than 30 days old, in which case contact the retailer you purchased it from.
Sorry not to be more help...

Prior to, and following, upgrade to 5.420 I'd been having the same problems and contacted TomTom to report a fault with my TTG 300. They asked me to return the original card so they could reinstall software 5.201!
I emailed back saying I was convinced it was a hardware problem as I already had backups of orignial SD card and different SD card with 5.201 which also froze but they insisted on me returning the SD card only which I duly did.
It came back earlier from Holland this week and guess what - I still get the freezes.
This evening I tried an experiment. I pressed on the SD card and held it in whilst I turned on the unit. It boots every time! If it don't press on the SD card it may or may not boot. If it doesn't I have to reset the unit.
This happens with three different SD cards with different versions of the software, original, 5.201 and 5.420.
Looks to me like a problem with the internal card reader. Looks like it's all going back to Holland. I'll miss it while it's gone |
