Ok, I've just managed to install all those CAB's (except the maps) by copying the contents of the TomTom SD card to my K-JAM Pocket PC. And I can launch the TomTom application on the K-JAM but it says no maps installed.
How do I install the maps? Further up this post Weatheryoko suggests "pop out your SD/CF/Storage card into a USB reader. Install the map that you want use via the normal installation disk. You'll have to select installation via "Memory Card Reader" since TT5 will never see your WM 5.0 machine. You HAVE to install you map via a memory card reader.
However the setup program is on the SD card and it isn't a Windows application. Neither will it run on the K-JAM. So I assume I might simply copy the maps from somewhere to somewhere - so what'd I do please?

I DID IT This is what I did;
First, copy over the following files from the ORIGINAL directory to the Pocket PC;
(a large memory card is the best destination).
TomTomInstall (ORIGINAL)\2577\TTN.CAB
TomTomInstall (ORIGINAL)\2577\GPS.CAB
TomTomInstall (ORIGINAL)\2577\WZD.CAB
TomTomInstall (ORIGINAL)\2577\PMADDIN.CAB
Run them one by one, in the same order as above.
Now to install the maps.
1) Simply copy the Great_Britain_Map directory onto the toot of the MiniSD storage card.
2) Re-insert the card back into the Pocket PC
3) Run TomTom.
3) Register manually at www.ttcode.com or Automatically using GPRS
Product code on the card; XXXXX XXXXX XXXXX (enter 1st)
*Code on the device; XXXXX XXXXX (enter 2nd)
*Acivation code; XXXXX XXXXX XXXXX
* Note that the manual activation didn't work - I had to use Automatic
registration using GPRS.
Go through the program setup and choose the map - this needs to be activated. |

Thanks to this forum I've installed TT5 on my Exec. The Clip on is paired OK. Problem is that I can't bet the BT working (even with the guidance here) It won't let me use COM7 as the outgoing port so I've tried Com 8 as per Alix's suggestion but still no joy. TT itself only offers Com 7 as an option. I've seen reference to WM GPS settings - where are they please - and what do they do. What am I doing wrong?

you need to activate the GPS applet in WM5. Then assign an outgoing COM port like COM0 or COM4 to your receiver. This will then appear in the TomTom list _________________ Lutz

Lutz,
Further to my last post help tells me that GPS settings should be in Start/settings/system/GPS
Not on mine I'm afraid!

Problem I have is in the GPS configuration screen I get options:
Native IR:
COM3:
BT UART on COM5:
Se???a?? ?a??d?? st?? COM1:
On WM2003 I used to get 6 or 7 options on the same screen. Something isn't right with the bottom option. COM1 is what I need but it doesn't work. Other GPS utilities connect fine to the GPS receiver. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling to no avail.
Please someone help. |

Rob, Welcome to the forum, I assume this is on a Dell x50v ? - as I have seen this configuration and set-up on the said device, you can chose the Se???a?? ?a??d??st??COM1 and it should work, but only with TomTom, to display the port properly follow the info in this link scroll down a bit to find the info you need

thanks for the reply, it is on an x50v. I have chosen that option but it doesn't work. I get "no GPS Device" I know the GPS is working as winfast navigator gets a good fix in no time at all. |

Rob, make sure no other programs are running (go to the memory icon in settings System tab, go for the running programs tab and select stop all) run TomTom up, make sure the GPS unit has a decent clear view of the sky and wait (outside, at least its no too cold tonight), it could take 15 min before it is happy for the first time you use it.
To be sure the GPS is communicating with the PDA and TomTom is the little yellow/ Blue circle (top rh of the GPS screen) spinning, if it is just wait, if not there is something still wrong with the set-up - Mike |

The little circle isn't spinning, i know com1 is working with the GPS hardware because I can get winfast nav. to communicate with it and pick up sats. It has to be something to do with the way tomtom works with the com ports in WM5 as opposed to WM2003. Maybe a reg hack would do it but I wouldn't know where to start. I've tried every conieveable setting but still nothing. |
