The splash screen (splash.bmp) should pop up every time you power on or off. If you particularly wanted the TomTom drums and startup, the easiest sequence is power off, remove card, replace card, power on.

bought a tt one on Saturday....had one reserved at newbury argos but a 50 mile return journey....so tried my luck at a currys 2 miles away and they would price match it......cool.....lost out on a 10.00 argos voucher, but would have spent 2 hours and at least 10.00 in petrol anyway
works superbly on my peugeot 307xsi which the heat reflective screen...
placed in on right of screen
went for this rather than the 300 as its:-
much more compact (fits in a jacket pocket)
screen is same size
has a faster processor/chip
is cheaper (Currently)
judging by some comments and my experience seems to work better with heat reflective screens...though you should check
Disadvantges
no case (a whopping 25.00 inc delivery from tom tom..will find an aletrnative) |

When mine starts up, it bypasses the splash screen & goes straight to map view, just wondered if the ONE was maybe different to say the 300. When powering off the screen goes straight off, no splash screen aswell. |

Isn't this a confusion between the start-up screen (red hands and drum sounds) that you get after a re-boot; and the normal start-up splash screen which doesn't exist on a Go straight out of the box, but which you can add yourself. |

just a word of warning - you can't take any GPS device back to argos in the 16 days - they are excluded for some reason!
hello all from a noob! :D |

I showed Argos the above printout and they offered a managment discount down to £212.99. I expect sub £199 may be realistic in the new year. |

I understand that the ONE is shipping with v5.420. Is it OK to roll it back to 5.202. so that SDK apps can be used.

Bought a Tom Tom One from Argos today, and am really pleased with it so far.
Shipped with software version 5.41 and i haven't been brave enough to update it yet, or add the speed camera database yet.
Can anyone advise, if i register the One, will the free trial of the Traffic start right away. (I dont want to use it Yet.) |

Argo also throw in a 10 gift voucher - bringing the price down to £213.
My dad just dropped his ipaq 3850 and this looks like an excellent xmas present for him!
Off to collect it now _________________ -----------------------------------------------------------

Assuming Traffic is relectiveley unchanged from GO. Traffic free trial starts when you request it to start. _________________ Paul Driver

Hold on a minute. I remember now that v5.4 made changes to the way that traffic is activated. Probabley best to double check with a ONE user. _________________ Paul Driver

Well I just picked up a one from argos for me dad.
took it out the box in the car park plugged it into the lighter socket and inserted the sd card.
Bloody hell - had a fix before I'd looked at the screen mount - my car won't allow any sirf ii signals in as the coated windsreen wipes it out - really impressed with sirf III - think I will buy another and replace my pda version - far far neater.
Don't even think I'd miss the vga screen.

Activated Traffic on my TT-One today. (V5.41) Worked instantly, so I assume that my free period has started - it didn't ask when I wanted it to start...? I would wait until you need it. it advised me of a 8 mile queue on the A/C M25 today at about 1300hrs, when I got there - 2 mins after the unit updated - guess what - no queue at all...
Still TT-one is the DB's in a Laguna with reflective screen - brilliant. |
