Hi Chris,
Please keep us informed.
I'm looking at the 'One' for use on my Bike.
I know you bought yours from Germany so the package may be slightly different, but was it supplied with the 'plus' maps or was it only Germany?
I was initialy interested in the Rider, untill I discovered its severe lack of functionality in terms of it being a portable unit (no speaker, no external antena, no audio out) between car and bike, not to mention it's silly price.
Thanks again for your postings.
Regards,
Glenn |

Hi Glenn,
The One came with just the Germany map, I'm not sure if the UK One will come with plus maps or not. I'd guess not though.
I should imagine you wouldn't have too much trouble adapting the One to fit your bike (I used to have a Road Angel Gps fitted to mine in a Ortlieb waterproof clear pouch).
I've got both the One and the 300 (300 will be going soon) and I prefer the One because of its portability (it will fit in a pocket) and also its better chipset.
By the way you get 2 years warranty if you buy from www.navishop24.de
You could always sell the german SD card too, I've just sold mine on ebay for £40.
Let me know how you get on fitting yours on your bike, I'd like to try to fix mine up on my Aprilia
Cheers
Chris
Ps the price delivered from Germany was £268, as we don't need to pay import tax from Germany anymore |

Hi Chris,
Thanks for the info.
I currently use a DELL PDA running Navigator 5 mounted on my Honda. I use the excellent 'RAM' Mounting system (www.ram-mount-uk.com or www.ram-mount.com (US site)). RAM produce dedicated cradles for a huge range of devices, and I'm shure it wont be long before the 'One' is included in that list. For weather protection I use a humble freezer bag with a clip around the bottom. This has served me well in all types of weather for nearly 2 years.
With regard to the maps, I have the complete maps of europe on several CD's but I'm not sure if I could transfer these to the 'One' as I understand the 'One' and the Rider use Teleatlas maps which are different from the existing ones used by all other TomTom products. Do you have any comments on this?
Either way, I still think the 'One' is the way to go for me.
Keep us informed on any issues that arise.
Oh, and ride safe.
Regards,
Glenn |

Hi Eldar,
Thanks for the info. Does this mean that TomTom converts the maps they use (Navteq & Teleatlas) into a common 'TomTom' format, or is the TomTom application written to auto detect the two different types of maps?
Just interested.
Regards,
Glenn |

All map data received from TA or NT is converted to TomTom format. |
