This still would not tell me, whilst driving normally, whether I am getting an EGNOS lock, so my original request for an indication still stands |

agreed it would be nice to have an indication ,and for geocaching its great ,but having the i3 for about 2 months now i find for normal day to day driving you really dont need waas/egnos... _________________ *************************** |

Zogman , HiSeeker.
I agree the colour change would be a good idea, just like an old Analog Radio I had used to do , A light used to change from red to green when the signal was sterio.
I tried WAAS when I was still on 2.3 or 2.4. It did not seem to work then. Unit was switching back to non WAAS.
Might work on 2.7. though or might just be the poor reception where I live.
Not a solution but you can try this:
Remover the SD card from I3, and press hold back button when you switch on. This will give base maps only with no clever readjusting of position from map data.
Drive around like this for a short while and see how inaccurate it is.
Pop the card back in and accuracy is returned.
Now if EGNOS is working you should get a similar result without putting SD card back but by switching to WAAS/EGNOS. |

Excess speed warning (like TTN) would be very useful... 8)
Not so much an enhancement but a bugette - driving fast along an unclassified road running parallel to a motorway, the view auto-zoomed out far enough for the road I was on to disappear! |

A feature I'd like to see is automatic adjustment of the volume level based on speed.
I find volume level 2 okay for town driving, but need 3 or 4 for motorway journeys, due to the increased road and wind noise.
Obviously the unit knows the speed, so I think this feature should be possible in a firmware upgrade. You could choose the min and max volume settings in a menu, with an option to enable/disable automatic volume changing. |

POI Loader to either:
a) remember manual settings for each POI file from last time
or
b) optionally extract these from text tokens in each POI file ("ProxAlert", "Range=1200", etc.)
Re-entering settings manually for a dozen-plus POI categories is starting to get a little bit tedious... |

Almost right - the "parking" option does not exist, at least on my i3.
Press Auto Services
Press All Auto Services
i3 will then list car dealers, but also car parks in order of proximity.
You can use this when you are in the vicinity you want to park, or if you are going somewhere find the destination then instead of "Start Navigating" use "Show Near". Then go through Auto Services etc again.
If you click "Show Map", you will get a little P on the map, like this:
It's a bit of a pain, and will be much better if Garmin give us a "parking" option to search - but at least it works... |

Could Garmin add a sexy blond in with every unit, she could push the Buttons when we'redriving and instantly know the I3's little quirks. She could come with coloured wigs for those who are not into blonds and instantly report back to Garmin on user feedbacks and on routing problems. Surely this is not asking to much for £199.
There are some valid points being made here but up until a few weeks ago I was relying on my maps and juggling pages from Multimap , Rac and Via Michelin route finders to get me to addresses. Over the past 4 or 5 years I must have destroyed half a rain forest with all the paper work I printed to assure I found an address.
I went down wrong roads in the country and around in circles and found blocked roads and new roads and sat huddled in the evening at the PC planning routes and printing them off so I could snatch a look as I was driving. ( don't tell me that you all pull up and stop ) I3 gives me more free time, the paper useage is now zero for my routes and I have more time with my beloved wife.
And I get to out of the way addresses far far quicker, and if the motorways grind to a halt my I3 soon has me on a different road and takes me home.
But could the I3 have a feature so I can send address from my nokia 6600 address book to the unit so I dont have to use the buttons :-) |

if they added a bluetooth receiver then that's actually a feasible idea. i wonder if the new tom tom's with bluetooth (mainly used as a 'head set' for mobiles) will implement this in the future?
i highly doubt that garmin will add this to the budget i3. maybe the i9 will have it
