|
|
2.70 firmware is out, changes are:
Changes from 2.60 to 2.70
1) Add City selection step for address and intersection searches.
2) Corrected error in extended postal code searches that would cause
the same result to be returned for different searches and prevented the result from being added to the recent finds list.
3) Detect driving away from route more quickly.
4) Disable the detour option on the main menu when satellites are lost.
5) Updated text translations for Swedish, Polish, Dutch, Portuguese,
Spanish, Czech, and German.
6) Fixed a problem where a user's scroll position was lost after long searches.
7) Prevent language changes when user inserts a data card for a different region. |

Surely they must have it ablout right this time or should we expect updates every fortnight.
Uploadede 2.7. Didnt use the web updater, anyone tried that, dont quite see how it helps. |

Given my experiences, I cant see them getting it right until at least v4.x!
I did use the Webupdater, saves having to go to the website and manually download, then install I guess. _________________ Garmin i3 | Orange SPV M500 with TomTom 5.10 |

I know it's perhaps a bit early to be asking, but any comments regarding 2.70's stability would be welcome, particularly in view of the remarks made about 2.60. |

Just used the webupdater to update I3 from 2.6 to 2.7 and my I3 turned itself off halfway through update. Cannot get unit to power up at all now, tried new batteries/USB and car adapter and no joy. GUTTED
Think i'm gonna have to return this unit tommorow. Has anyone else had a similar problem? |

If you are a laptop user be very careful when updating firmware.
Some Laptops (and desktop machines which use USB hubs) don't supply enough voltage through the USB port to fully power devices like the i3.
I've seen one flick between computer and battery power several times whilst connected. I'd advise always using fresh batteries when updating firmware.
On a related note, I uploaded the 2.70 update onto a i3 unit today and the unit shut itself off a couple of times during the day (first time I've seen it do that). |

I've had it plugged into my desktop quite a few times, uploading POIs and software upgrades, and never had any problems before. I still can't get it to power on. Might see if I can get a refund as I paid 199.99 for it and see if I can find one for 169.99 in another store. Never know I might get lucky and purchase one with V8 maps that everyones going on about. They're buggars for refunds at PC World though. Oh well - fingers crossed........... |

yes 2.7 does seem to be as buggy as 2.6 was, used it for most of the day yesterday and it crashed 3 times something it never ever does on 2.5, it also like i said before when i was running 2.6 seems to slow the unit down, i have also noticed when going past a POI the map seems to hesitate and pause for a few seconds then carries on, again something it never does in 2.5
Also noticed with 2.7 as with 2.6 that it seems to have affected the unit when i'm switching it off, seems to make all sorts of strange noises instead of the normal switching off sound!
My opinion, if you need the 2.7 upgrade for the postcodes to work properly then it's probably worth the upgrade, if you dont, you would probably be better off staying with 2.5 _________________ Garmin Streetpilot i3,

Hi guys...
i have tried this a few times now and have finally got it to upgrade without a problem.
The fault i could reproduce only when my i3 was connected to my usb hub..
When tried with a powered usb hub it worked fine.
When tried connected direct to my computer it worked fine...
it seems the problem is if you have a low powered usb hub...

I tried updating my i3 yesterday to 2.7 and it failed. Can't turn on my unit now even after resetting. I'm waiting for Garmin to respond to my email on this. Anyone have some advice on a fix? |

Had mine about 4 days now and used it a fair bit. It came loaded with 2.50 and v7 out of the box (Halfords online £169). I loaded the POI's and 2.70 immediately and the unit has been faultless since (with the exception of some questionable routing). |

(more stable?!) versions i.e. 2.5?
Thanks

This post has some links to v2.5 (or, at least, they were there when the thread was started). |
