I am very new to all this and this may have been discussed before but here goes....
My HP4700 has TTN5 and despite me reinstalling Tom Tom software I am still unable to get it to retain my home location and POI's fav routes etc. Every time I start to use the unit I have to set all these up etc and then after I have finished and close TTN5 down it nearly always loses everything and I start all over again. I have recently heard of a memory leak.Is this the cause of all my trouble and can it be fixed. Initially when I got the unit back in July it seemed fine until it did a major crash due to the screen freezing while using TTN5. Because the crash was major I ending up doing a full reset and also update the fix which stopped the freezing on screen, but I think (not sure) this was when I started to lose my info.
Any help advice etc or download links etc would be appreciated.

There is a known issue with TT5 and the 4700, it does cause it to crash, what you need to do is download 5,1 from the following link
http://www.tomtom.com/support/product.php?ID=62&Language=1&FID=3361
Install this and the 4700 should be fine - Mike

What version of OS are you using? Start, settings, HP Asset veiwer then select Version on the lower task bar, the latest one is 1.10.08 ENG which you can download from the HP site if needed - I do not have any leakage problems with my set-up - Mike

Hi thez,

Belated Welcome to the forum! Thumbs Up

Are you using a single country version of TomTom Navigator on an SD storage card?

If you are, then you may want to check that the write protect switch isn't set to read only.

Also, if you are using the original TomTom SD card then I would recommend that you invest in a card reader and a larger SD card (512Mb or even 1Gb) so that you can copy the original TomTom SD to the new one and then keep the TomTom SD in a very safe place as a backup.

Regards,

As a further point re the 4700 and TT5, has anyone had the calander suddenly appear when driving. This has happened several times and normally a tap on the screen clears the calander and it reverts TT5 ok.

Today the same thing happened and I decided to leave it to see if it cleared
itself. !!!!!!!

Unfortunately after a minute or so the screen locked and I had to pull over and do a soft restart. All the current info was obviously lost.

Anyone else suffered with this ?

For the 4700 screen saver select start, programs, Dockware - when it starts up tap and hold on the screen, from the pop-up box de-select the start automatically, after this it won't bother you again. For some strange reason HP decided we needed a screen sver on this machine!

Thanks Mike

That seems to have cured it.

Mike

A further problem has now happened twice with the 4700.

Yesterday for no aparant reason, the connection screen appeared whilst using TT5 on the motorway. I thought it would just overlay the TT screen and allow voice directions.

Alas NO, I lost the navigation and had to reset when I stopped. Not a happy situation.

Any ideas please.

It is the screen that displays both WiFi and BT allowing you to turn On/Off either connection.

Never had to touch it before, although I can appreciate turning off the Wi Fi
may well sort ther problem.

Will try later.

Many thanks
