I take it you have TTG 500. I only have 300 which does not have hands free.

My phone is already paired with unit, but on occasion I sometimes I have to use a different phone which will need pairing to TTG so if the connect to phone icon is not in menu I would be unable to connect it.

My main concern is why the mnu file does not correspond to what you actually see when the TTG is running, it just does not make any sense, I change the order of the menu but tomtom does not take any notice of the changes.

worthingsaxovtr.....
Well done for your step by step instructions; but why did you call the topic "Adding a Speed Camera, dummies guide" when it is actually a guide for installing the 5.202 software and Scaredycat's extra applications?

Oh, hang on... as I was actually writing that, I think I realised what you mean!! Smile
But its still nothing to do with adding a Speed Camera, (which you can do manually without any of this lot!) but how to install "Quickam".
I suppose its too late for anyone to edit the heading?

andy

i naemd it that as it is more user friendly for people who dont know a lot about the in's and outs of sat nav like me,

if i had put 5.202 etc i think the title would have put people of, or they might not have looked at it,

to be honest i didnt know that you can add a spped camera without doing all of this,

i know that this is a quick way of doing it,

i am happy to take suggestions onboard, and happy to learn, as at the end of the day we all want to protect our licences,

thanks for the vote of confidence and thanks to scaredycat for writing this software

For anyone else who doesn't know the manual way to do it...

The speed cameras are just like any other point of interest (POI).
If you want to add a POI, you go to "Change preferences", then "Manage POI", "Add POI", choose the POI category (one of the camera groups or whatever), and then you can add it by all the usual options:- "Home", "Favourite", "Address", "Recent Destination", "another POI", "Postcode", "Point on Map", "POI in City" and "GPS position" (i.e. where you are now).

If it's a speed camera you want to add, here's how I do it:

Firstly, make a new POI category called "New Cameras" to store them in and also to send off to the PocketGPS people at the end of each month so they can add them to the master database.

Then:

Method 1 - Store straight into the New Cameras POI category
Tap to go to to Menu page 1 / Change preferences / forward arrow / Manage POI / Add POI / Scroll up or down and select category "New Cameras" / forward arrow / GPS position / then name it.

That's way too many button presses for me when driving, so:

Method 2 - Temorarily store as a Favourite
Tap screen / Add favourite / forward arrow / GPS position / name it anything (like just "30" or whatever)
Then at your leisure, copy it from the Favourites to the POI category by:

Menu page 1 / Change preferences / forward arrow / Manage POI / Add POI / Scroll up or down and select category "New Cameras" / Favourite / select it / then name it properly

This might be a good place to put any other advice generally about adding cameras.

Specifically I've always wondered:

Where should you add the camera? Assuming you're in ideal conditions and it's possible to differentiate - should the location be there the actual camera is, or where the white lines are on the road? Currently it seems to be a mixture.

My guess is "nobody really cares for our purpose", I suppose I'd just like to try to be right, and I live near a lot of cameras which I could easily set up to be very accurate.

Regards

Lee

I guess the reason that some of the camera positions are a bit vague may be because the notification of new cameras can come from many sources, not just TomTom Go owners.
The only time it bugs me is when the camera is on the other side of a dual carriageway and it still triggers the alert. (There's nothing you can do about it on single carriageways). Must admit I do send those ones into PocketGPS with a note like "it needs moving slightly to here to trigger the Go correctly".

My preference is for the icon to be placed right in the middle of the carriageway, irrespective of where the camera itself is.
