gary re mapsource..when you upgrade to the lastest version 6.80 http://www.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=209 it should contain the usb drivers for the i3..also when downloading to the i3 make sure you have no maps selected and the 'maps' box is un-clicked otherwise you will overite the current mapping which is very valueable ...(the cd's in the post-you should get it tomorrow) |

Ok. Thanks - I'll do that!
Now used my i3 on the road... it did exactly what I expected. Voice prompts gave plenty of advance instruction for next turn and It always recalculated the route immediately when I deliberately took wrong turns!
Do you know if the i3 automatically re routes for example:
due to a major traffic delay on the original chosen route
or do I have to select or download that option from somewhere?
Cheers

gary, the i3 will have no knowledge of any traffic jams or roadworks there fore cannot reroute to avoid them...for traffic jam alerts you need something like 'trafficmaster' which gets info via those blue posts by the side on the road....best thing is to switch on the 'ta' (traffic alerts) on your car radio and when a report comes in ,direct from the i3 route to avoid the jam then the i3 will recalculate you back on track... _________________ *************************** |

Proved by using the StreetPilots DETOUR option...
If you select detour during a navigation, say for example due to heavy traffic ahead, the StreetPilot will automatically recalculate and direct you on an alternative route.
It will keep you on the alternative route until you select detour again or until your destination! |
