I'm running Mapsource 6.8 which can store 64 user defined Waypoint symbols.
I understand that these have to be designed in .bmp format and can either be 16x16 or 24x24 pixels.
The problem that I have is that when I create a symbol in 'Paint', the waypoint image will always be displayed as a square block. For sake of argument, if I designed a red diamond shape, it would appear in Mapsource as a red diamond on a white square background.
But I want a red diamond with a TRANSPARENT background so that all you see is the red diamond on the map.
No matter how many times I've tried, by painting with 'opaque off' etc, I cannot achieve a transparent background when the symbol is diaplayed in Mapsource.
Has anyone successfully created custom waypoints with a transparent background ? If so, what programme have you used to create them and how ?
The pre-defined waypoint symbols within Mapsource certainly have transparent backgrounds, so why don't the user defined ones display the same ?
Please, someone put me out of my misery. It's driving me mad
