My question to Navigon
I have recently bought your MN4 navigation system, after using it for only 1-2 months, its telling me my mapping is out of date and needs to be upgraded.
Can you please advise me where i can fin the link to download the updates for my mapping.
Thier reply
The message on your screen will only infor you that there is an upgrade for a newer version available for your device. That was not possible for the last year, due to the fact of the large interest for that upgrade we decided to inform the users of the new upgrade.
The upgrade to the Mobile Navigator 5 is available for 99€ on our homepage www.navigon.com
My reply
Just to comment on yr answer, how dose my unit know that there is a newer version available? I dont want to upgrade to the newer version of something that is working perfectly fine,
The only problem is that something I paid £300 for came with out of date
mapping
As im using this every day for my work....the maps in the unit are very much
out of date and i wouldnt expect this to be the case after 2 monthe of use
Thier reply
the Mobile Navigator 4 dates back in 2004. We do not sell this version anymore directly. There are still some retailers who have that on stock and sell it. We cannot influence how it has been sold to you or what they have told you.
Please check if the store would give you a refound since they have sold you an old software version and claming that it was new.
I there any hope |

The point I'm trying to make is MN5 is a very poor attempt at an application upgrade to try and make profit.
Good luck trying to get a map upgrade - if you get any sucess post it here I might just be interested myself.
As the current map files are a totally different format I think it's unlikey though.
Good luck................... _________________ Thanks,

its not gonna happen Chris, i had a mail back telling me to get lost nicely.
So Navigon, only in it for the cash, dont give a hoot about customers, crap PR and generally not nice people.
But thats just my opinion |

Totally agree with that opinion mate - just look at what they did with the TMC and MN5. _________________ Thanks,

I purchased my Navigon 4.2 in March 2005. I've used it in England and France this year.
I noted and reported various locations for updating in the belief that map updates would eventually be made available. I now know better!
I would never have bought the system if I had known that the maps could not be updated.
It's a pity because I am quite happy with the 4.2 version. |

Sorry to say I've shelved the whole thing as a total waste of money. _________________ Thanks,
