Where did you buy your i3 from zogman? it's probably just mixup with database and hopefully they will recignise your registration number but not before update Smile
I wonder if this latest promised update coincides with the promised upgrade to City Select Europe?

just to confirm what skippy said ,i got this off the garmin site

Am I entitled to a free update?

If you purchased a locked MapSource product ON or AFTER the release date of an update, you are entitled to an unlock on the newer version of that product for free.

Unit Software
StreetPilot i3 Ver. 2.50 as of October 3, 2005 Download from http://www.garmin.com/support/collection.jsp?product=010-00434-00

Is that the upgrade we are talking about or am I on a different track? Exclamation

Hi Gary
Different software that is for lets say the i3's operating system. the one in question is for the Map data which should be more up-to-date with new roads etc

Hi Gary.
I would hold back on registering untill we have a response from Garmin, but it is looking at the moment that Skippy is correct in that i3's registered after the update release will get new updated maps, I will post on here any replies I get from Garmin.. waiting with bated breath Smile

For my Quest it consisted of a CD which you then get an unlock code for online. I don't know about the i3 because it seems to come with the maps preloaded so no CD. Confused

Anyone care to speculate?

if garmin do update the i3 they might possibly send a update cd which will only work with your i3's serial number (which you have registered) to your home address...this should stop any piracy

the thing is crazylegs is that we really dont know for certain that an upgrade is due for the i3....it would be bad marketing on garmins side to release the i3 and then a few weeks later introduce an upgrade..
