Is the "TransFlash" an actual solid state flash that Garmin have developed purely for their use, or is this actually their name for an SD/MMC, or some variant of that; i.e. RS SD/MMC, or RS DV SD/MMC? |

Not sure about some of the ones you mention but, Transflash cards have not been developed by Garmin. They are quite popular in mobile phones. My Samsung Z500 mobile has exactly the same card for storing video's photo's etc. Transflash cards are lso called Micro SD cards and usually come with a SD card adapter so they can be read from popular card readers. |

Like the SD card, Transflash was first developed by Sandisk. Also like SD it has now been adopted as a standard, but renamed MicroSD. _________________ Kam |

Hmm, I thought you must be meaning MiniSD but it seems that this MicroSD Transflash is different format again to the MiniSD cards (like I have in my C500 phone). Blah Why do they invent these new formats all the time? _________________ Gone fishing! |

Because they are running out of construction space...
I guess there is a limit to miniaturization - the moment you can't finger the card out of the slot any more... _________________ Lutz
