Hi Gooner.
I also have an Acer N35 with D3 & am also contemplating getting TTN5 for use on the N35. Could you let me know how things go for you please. _________________ Best wishes.

I've been playing with both now for a few months.
I only consider TT to have two advantages over Destinator.
1. Full post code search
2. More than two auto alerts, thus you can set it up to warn you about the specific camera.
Other than this I don't think there's much different.
The one big advantage Destinator does have is the files are much simpler and you can edit them yourself and even creat your own wav (speech) files where as with TT you have to download various other bits of software to maniupliate .ogg files and mess about with them. This is so messy I've just downloaded a preset voice file which has the basic warnings.
If anyone else finds anymore differences please post them here. |

Hi Mikey
I see you have tried both tt5 and D3.
I find that the main problems with D3 are with the routing and voice commands.
The routing as 2 options quickest and shortest. Shortest is pretty much useless as it will try to use rediculous short cuts (exceptionally narrow or add 2 right turns to save 20 yards over the next 200 yards) or worse still bridal paths and even private drive ways. Quickest seems to frequently miss perfectly good less major roads. eg. A 7 mile A road through a major town centre will often be preferred to a straight 5 mile non-built up B road. It seems either the speeds for given roads need better tuning or a fuzzy logic option where time and distance are traded off.
The voice problem (once you've fixed the roundabout problem) with D3 is that if you approach a junction with a very minor road that often can be a dead end farm track or private drive where the road off leaves at angle of about 30 degrees to the main road you get commnds of either "exit left/right", "keep left/right" or even "turn left/right". This is particularly confusing if the junction is a scissor format and you are told to turn left - when really it means follow the road! Why doesn't it compare road names and class of road and particularly assume that anything that is dead end in 400 yards is not the main road. Volleys of pointless commands is irritating at best and can with particular road layouts be confusing.
There as also been the very rare occaision where I have been unable to work out how on earth it came up with a particular set of voice commands.
Fortunately the display is always correct were the underlying mapping is correct.
Is there much difference between the routing and voice commands between the two pieces of software?
thanks

have just had a look at tt5
although i prefered d3s user interface tt5 does seem to be better at routing and speed cameras
is it posible to run both d3 and tt5 from a single memory card and if so what needs to be done ? _________________ www.road-racer.co.uk

The crutial word here is RUN. If you mean can you have both programs on the sd card and chose which one to run when you want to get somwhere the answer is YES.
However, if for some reason (and I can''t think of any) you want to actually have both programs running at the same time the answer is NO.
Hope this is clear, as I didn't want to just give a yes and then someone come back and say their unit was crashing everytime they tried to run both.

yeah sorry m8 thats what i meant to be able to run both without having to swap over the cards n stuff
i was wondering what to do with the 2577 folder since its on both cards and both have an autorun.exe
im guessing just bin the autorun files and copy everything else onto the one card ? also i take it the stuff has to remain in the root directory on the card ?

The 2577 folder doesn't actually get used unless you remove the SD card and reinsert. When doing this it will attempt to reinstall the software.
You've got lots of options here, but I'll indicate the easiest two below.
1. rename the files and if your system get corrupt and you need to hard reset just perform this manually by selecting the autorun file manually.
2. Use a back-up software program like ' Sprite backup'. This excellent little program backsup your files and settings from your Pocket pc onto your sd card.
Thus unless something really goes wrong (SD card gets corrupted) you can always perform a hard reset and restore on the run without losing any info and without the need for a PC.

Don't know why that is mate, I've not got the 2577 folder and it works fine on mine.
