As I want to get the Holux 236 as a GPS unit, can I buy TT5 without the BT unit? I've looked and the answer seems to be 'No', which I find very odd. The TT5 GPS unit does not have everything I am looking for, so if I can't buy TT5 separately it's going be to an issue..... |

The answer is YES :P I can't see it being any different to my 231
I have an Ipaq 3715, TT5, Holux GR231 it all works fine.
Cheers

Peter, I know that TT5 will work with other GPS units. My issue is that I don't want/need to spend £200 on TT5 plus it's BT GPS unit. I want to spend £100 on just the TT5 software. I can't see anywhere where I can buy it however.
I'm not going to spend the extra £100 on a GPS receiver I don't need, so if I can't buy TT5 separately, I won't buy the TT5 GPS bundle. |

Lots of places where you can bu just the TT5 software, for example, in the UK, there's
http://www.globalpositioningsystems.co.uk for one, but there's many others. |

Sorry to be a right pain, but I need an answer/help quick and don't have time to look through 23 pages!
I have just installed TT5 but I can't get any sat signal. It just says 'No GPS Device'. Could someone please explain why I can't connect?
Just to recap:
Navman SE
Tomtom 5
Ipaq 3870
TomTom 3 work well, but since I have installed 5, nothing. I really need it to work tomorrow.....
Many thanks in advance....

I may be missing something obvious but I can't see the new full 7 digit postcode screens anywhere - the one shown looks the same as the 5 digit one on TomTom 3?
Also, does Map view still have all the same options on the bottom menus, or are they changed/reduced from TomTom 3? |
Dear Dave/barryd
I agree with barryd. i recently upgraded to tomtom 5(pda version) and i am unable to get 7 digit postcode. i did read the review for tom tom go which shows the screen with the pictures of UK postcode and NETHERLANDS postcode, but that screen is not available on my PDA. also when i downloaded the maps from the CD, i did download a 9 MB map saying GB POSTCODE but it is contained in a folder called zip. do we need to do something about it? Sorry I am very confused. My main intention of upgrading was to get the full 7 digit postcode, which i am unable tofind. Could someone help please |

Has anyone else had the experience that I have just suffered with TomTom ? I have navigator 4.40 HP edition, and bought it only 18 months ago. With the product came CDs of Europe, which at the time I did not want to activate. I am going to France on holiday for a week in 2 weeks time, so I contacted TomTom offering to pay for an activation code , as it said in the pack with the software. They came back to me with various excuses, but effectively they wanted me to spend 199 euros on Navigator 5 in order that I could use the map of France for a week ! I think that this is a disgusting way to treat a customer, after all the product is less then two years old, and the activation codes DO exist as they are programmed into my Ipaq system. They are just trying to profiteer in my opinion, and I will not but a TomTom Product again !
Does anyone know if I can take action against TomTom for doing this ? Who should I write to outlining my experiences? Has anyone else had the same happen to them ? |

"only" - that's a nice way to put it. There was an upgrade grace period where you could have bought Europe maps (all of them) for 59 USD, but that period is long, long over. You could try and wait for the v6 update, but that will only happen after your holiday.
The current Navigator version is 5.21 _________________ Lutz

You mean that you think that I should be paying 199 euros for new software every 18 months or so then ? There was no notification of there being any time limit in my software when I bought it. My version works fine so why should I upgrade ? |

TomTom think you should upgrade because your maps are now about six years old, and the application has progressed a lot since 4.40 .
Mind you, I am just stating what TomTom thinks you should do. If you do not like that - feel free to move to a different product (where you most likely will find a similar pricing policy) or stay with what you have. _________________ Lutz

All I want to do is to find my way around a small part of France for a week. The Navigator system that I use - quite frequently - is fine for me and I get along with no problems even where there is a minor 'blip' with new roads etc. I have retired so I don't have money to throw around like people who are working. Even the holiday I am having was a present from someone !!! BTW Lutz do you work for TomTom ? I ask because you sound a little like the chap from TomTom who was supposed to be 'helping' me with my problem !! |

Sorry Maxjonz, can't help you if you are even unable to notice my avatar or check me out on our "About" page. I could demand an apology but I don't think I care. _________________ Lutz
