Hi,
I just pruchased TTN5 with US state maps and map of Canada. Now the problem is TTN5 allows you to load only one state map in the program memory.
Lets say I want to travel from Virginia to New York so have to cross the following states on the way then how may I navigate using TTN5
Virginia
Maryland
Delaware
Pennsylvania
and then New York
I tried loading all maps in the SD card but I still can only select one map (say Virginia my starting point) and if I want to navigate all the way then I cant do so.
Are you able to load all the states that you want onto your SD card??
If so, what you would have to do is start off with Virginia, and then you would have to change maps at the border.
You do this by selecting options, change preferences and then switch maps.
I don't believe that tomtom do a map with the whole of the USA on it as this would require way too much memory.
(in Europe we have a Plus version which would be very handy for the US. In essence, you would only need to load the Virginia Plus map and this would be able to navigate you to New York but I do not think this is available)
With US version of TT5 you also have maps groupped. Using those you would not have to change maps when crossing borders.
For instance in your case you could use New England + midatlantic map which covers CT+NY+VT+NH+ME+RI+MA+NJ+PA+DE+DC+MD+WV+VA
This is 160 mb map you would need a large enough card. Address to address routing should be possible. There is no map available for entire US which is available for map TTG. But with this grouping it should not be a major problem.
If you buy the US maps, you can install the states singly, or you can choose to install certain clusters of maps. I've ripped the list of maps from the install CD, and here it is. It lists the options for installing sets of maps, as well as how much space they take up.

I wanted a complete map of florida for use when abroad. Looking on the TT site they dont appear to sell a complete map of florida so I had to download two areas, orlando and ocala. These appear as two separate maps that do not interact, so how am I supposed to plot a route between the two? Seems a little bizzare. dont know if there is a way of combining the two map folders.

Many Thanks Guys . I bought my TT5 from ebay last week from a seller in Britain who mentioned in his auction that I dont need anything else if I buy this package. First he sent me the copied TT5 on 2 cds second I did not have any idea of cluster maps and whole usa map mentioned on TT5 website from the link you sent me. Many thanks. Can u suggest me what is the best option now other than buying the complete version again for $120 + I think sold in USA.

For what it's worth, when you buy Navigator 5 in the US, a map called "Major Roads of America" (approximately 220 MB) is included. This map is for the entire US and includes all major roads plus many secondary roads. It's excellent for multi-state journeys. It actually has detail down to many local roads.
It may be possible to buy this map as a standalone in Europe.
