Hi,
I am considering, no thats not right; I have my heart set on the Navman pin 570.
A few months back I had no need or desire to own a SATNAV. The I saw one whilst on a Safari in Wales (what an exciting life I lead). WOW 8O .
This vehicle could go anywhere and it also new where it was!
This took me back to my RAF days (Fowler chicken run(Tornado CRPMD (moving map+)))when I predicted one days cars would have these.
I want one and need one.
I have looked all around the tinternet and have narrowed the field down to the above. Largley due to cost also it is the same make as the one in the Rover.
They have been out for a while now so could people out there tht have them let me know what they are like?
Gps, pocket pc,mp3 player, excel and even wifi-able?
what size SDcard is best?
Any particular make?
what to do and not to do.
I am slightly technical so I should be ok
There must be others who would benifit from your experiences so go on repy.
Thanks :D |

Im no expert when it come to satnavs etc, but I really fancied getting one. After doing a lot of reseach I settle for the Navman 570 and I love it!!! It slips nicely into your pocket unlike the tomtom which are bulky. The mp3 is just fab which makes it even more of a bargain 'cause i didn't have before, you need to get decent headphones though as it dont come with them. I bought a separate card to put all my tunes on. Get the biggiest card you can afford and you can store loads of stuff on it. The pc is great as well, excel word, just as it is on your regular pc. Comet are selling them for £280.
If your not use to using satnavs the manual isnt very helpful, you just have to play around with it and you'll soon get the hang of it, if not the guys on here are very helpful.
The case that comes with it a a bit crap and Ive yet to find a decent case that will fit but sure I'll find something eventually.
GO GET IT< YOU'LL LOVE IT!!!!! |

Thanks for the information.
No bad comments, this is good news.
A bigger card sounds to like the solution, one further question though, can you put the map(s) on the bigger card to prevent the need to keep swapping cards? Is it (reasonably) easy to do.
Any idea how I would compress movies to the said card(s). It would be great to watch the Matrix whilst the family are circaling clothes racks in Marks N Sparks.
What sort of garantee does it ome with? I have seen it on the John Lewis site for £279 with a 2 year garantee :D

Yeah, it's easy to copy the info to a bigger card.
This is how I did it -
Put the card I wanted to copy into my PC card reader.
Copied to folder to my PC.
Remove the card from the PC and put your new one in.
Then copy the folder to the new card.
Two year warranty is good, think I just got a year with mine.
Not sure about the movie question???
Good luck! |

Thanks TOWUNDA,
Does this mean I need a card reader?
I hoped I could see the "original" via the PC link and copy from the PIN570? |

you can copy the contents from your memory card to your PC then drop them only the bigger card, memory card readers are recommend, try and use USB2 port for quicker and more reliable data transfer. _________________ Regards

Thanks again, TOTALPDA?
Is this you work?
what do you think of the 570, see I don't write NAVMAN PIN570, getting blazay now.
I also quickly looked up card readers, some people have had issues with errors, so picking your brains /experience whats a good one, make model. |

im not sure that the 570 has wifi on it.....
you could get a wireless card for it, but you wouold have to remove the momory card that you have your maps on
i used wifi in my local starbux yesterday for the first time..... tall latte, sausage egg and baked bean panini and 4 emails.
i signed up on btopenzone for pay as you go for their hotspots (they are also partners with T-Mobile which is the starbucks point), cost 20p per minute _________________ iPAQ 2410

thanks for the reply; I guessed that the "map" card would hve to be removed, but it would be nice to know this can be done with the 570. |
