I have firmware 3.1.0 can this be upgraded to 3.1.1 and what would be the benefit to me. Also I read somewhere that serial numbers below 400 cannot be upgraded. I have serial number 301. |

I just updated it myself but it was not 3.1.1 it was 3.1.0 how disappointing anyway I’m not sure what the original FW was but I remember it was 2. something, the performance is just as good as it was before gets a 3D lock fast and 9 sats in the house, so what’s the difference between 3.1.0 and 3.1.1, is it worth sending it for an update or should I wait maybe an expert can help me |

Well I'm also happy to try the flash myself and there are clearly no legal issues in doing this, just warranty issues.
The ED2K link is no longer working (for me at least) and the file that was hosted at rapidshare seems to have gone as well.
Mods, please note I'm not pointing anyone at any download locations I just want to find a copy of this upgrade to do it myself at my own risk.
If anyone has a copy and could send it to tcpaulh_at_gmail_dot_com then that would be great. Thanks |

Hi there, I bought my Globalsat bt-338 from easy devices, but it has a serial number less than 400 is there any means of me updating the firmware?
Cheers,

No. But the point here is why do you want to? Mine is a very early sub 400 serial unti that works perfectly. If it ain't broke then why risk it? _________________ Darren Griffin |

The safest way to upgrade would be to go here
http://www.easydevices.co.uk/pp/Receivers/GLOBALSAT_BT338_FIRMWARE_UPDATE.html
but if you are using your 338 a lot and cant afford to be without it then at your own risk check your PM |

I wasn't going to upgrade, because mine was running fine with no problems. Then I switched it off in one location and restarted it in another and, since then, it became a bit more erratic in acquisition time. So I just managed to get the upgrade within the 'free upgrade' limit of the end of September.
Only had to do without it for 2 days, because of the excellent service from EasyDevices. However, I felt really lonely on my trips to work, without the comforting voice of my navigator, and I missed the ETA display when I was stuck in traffic. _________________ Ian
