It's no good, I couldn't stand it any longer..... I had to take CP off my TT5 system yesterday, couldn't stand that "Flickering". I have reverted to the inbuilt TT5 warnings. It was the M25 around Heathrow where I finally cracked!

I just switch off the checkpoint display so it still gives the voice warnings, and then activate the tt5 built in 'warn when near poi' for its visual warnings - best of both worlds

That's what I'm planning to do for my installation, but I've a question for everyone who has already done this. Is it possible to get TomTom to display the warning without it playing a sound file? I still want to keep the route direction sounds on, so I can't just turn the whole sound off, or do I have to just pick the least offensive built-in warning sounds and have it playing in addition to my Checkpoint warning sounds?

I patched the poi voice file and replaced the 'Cow' sound with silence and choose that for my warnings so I get visual warnings only.

Not quite sure what you mean, if it's what I think then just don't use the TT built in warnings use only the CheckPOInt warning. You can turn them off by going into 'Change preferences' , 'Manage POI', 'Warn when near POI'. if the POI has a little speaker symbol next to it touck it and it will ask if you want to remove the warning, then set CheckPOInt warnings.
I use just the audio warnings and it works a treat, just hearing "Speed camera in 30 secs" and "Speed camera in 10 secs" is far better than the TT warnings and no visual required. |

The reason I want to keep the TomTom visual notification is that it assist locating exacty where the POI is that I'm being advised of.
eg On a road that I use regularly I know that there is a speed camera site on a road that runs underneath and slightly off to one side, if I have visual notifcation it shows it as being on that road and not the main road that I'm driving on so I know to ignore it. Obviously I know about that one as I use the road regularly, but for the same situation on roads that are new to me it helps keep down the false positives.

Can the new Checkpoint be run "minimized"? The old version would stay running as an icon, and the new one seems not to. My TTN5 hangs when started from Checkpoint's "Navigate" button, but it all works if I start TTN5 separately. But, the Today screen is hidden. Any thoughts?

You need to update to TomTom 5.10 for Checkpoint to work.
I had the same problem, now running TomTom 5.10 and Checkpoint 5.0.2 with no problems.

I have just installed the latest version of CheckPOInt to my iPAQ2210, using TTN v5.1. I disabled the visual warning in CheckPOInt because the flickering was excessive, but set up the sound warnings. So that I got a visual on the map display I enabled TT5's POIs, but without the TT warning sounds. So far, so good - it worked fine.
Then I connected to the internet to get it to update my safety camera files. Again it seemed to work flawlessly. But when I next switched on CheckPOInt I found I had lost all the CP sound warnings which I had so laboriously set up. Does this always happen? If so, I'll revert to my old fashioned method of downloading the files direct from Pocket GPS World and pasting the OV2 files onto the SD card, overwriting the previous month's

Hi Rabdo,
I downloaded the data.chkfile and then loaded it in to TTN_POIEW.exe so that I could export the relevant .ogg file for import in to my own data.chk file, but the cow still goes "Moo" !
Is there a possibility that the data.chk file you kindly placed for download has been replaced by another?
