Problem installing Update 5.12 on Palm

I am experiencing a problem with TT5 Update 5.12 for Palm OS.
(TT Navigator5 for UK supplied on SD card, Tungsten T5)

I downloaded the update (both zip and exe versions) but after applying the update the version number is still shown as 5.000 (4890)

I ran the updater again and looked in the Palm's installer to see what files were there:

start.prc
navigator.cab
navigator.ini
cn.prc

These were all set to install to the Handheld, not the SD card. Is this correct?

Has the update been successful or am I getting something wrong?

It came pre-installed on an SD card. I just put in my T5 and it ran straight away, asking for the registration process. I have not moved or copied it to the Internal Drive. I always run it from the SD card as that is the only place it exists on my T5.

The 5.12 update places four files in the Palm installer:

start.prc
navigator.cab
navigator.ini
cn.prc

All of these by default are set to install to the Handheld. I changed the install destination to the SD card but got an error message in the HotSync log to the effect that there is no programme that knows how to handle Navigator.cab and Navigator.ini

So, it seems that start.prc and cn.prc (what does cn.prc do?) were successfully installed but the main body of the update has still to be done. Do I have to expand the .cab file in some way? If so, how?

You should install it to the same location as where the original app and voices are installed, so on SD.
Or you should remove the orginal app from SD.
The app runs from SD - internal card (T5/LifeDrive) - RAM (doesn't work anymore, only for TTN4.42), in this order.

So if you have v5.00 on SD and v5.12 on your internal card, then app v5.00 will run.
