Does anyone experience problem with tomtom5 and HP4700?
I have the following problem which is very disturbing
1) Tomtom 5 exit itself to today screen when I choose to navigate to a POI e.g. nevigate to a petrol station
2) It will delete my saved home address and all favorite once I exit tomtom 5
3) The HP4700 get extremely hot when operating tomtom5, it get so hot that you don't want to touch it.
Very dissappointng with tomtom 5 so far, I switched back to tomtom 3 today, Hope there is a fix in the near future. |

Welcome - upgrade to vs 5,1 and that will solve most of the problems running on vs5,0 will max the processor (hence the heat) and crash the device due to memory leakage via the VGA screen driver software - there are loads of posts on this forum on how to enable the 4700 to work with vs 5,0 so have a dig around and read, or just upgrade to 5,1 which will fix the issue - Mike |

I have been running TT5 v5.1 (installed into IPAQ File Store) on my hx4700 since I had the PDA new about 5 weeks ago, not a single problem to report. I also ran the traffic trial and custom voices, again, all working fine.
Another tip is not to display POI's created with TT3, this is discussed elsewhere on this forum.

Richrad,
Slightly wrong - Don't display an POI , whether they are created in TTN3 or TTN5, as it slows the VGA screen down.. _________________ iPhone5, TomTom, Google maps, Navfree, Viewranger and Apple Maps (ekk) |

Thanks for the reply. Is that mean I have to disable all the poi ? If that so, how can I get back the speed camera alert? |

Richard,
You stop the display of the POIs on the map, not the notification of the POI. So the warnings in 5.1 (which are crap).
So go into POI and set the "warner" up for the POI you wish. Then go to the Properties section adn one of them says "Display POI?". Untick this one and hey presto. They won't show on th emap, but you still get the warning. You can of course l;eave them on, but even on a hx4700, you do get a jerky picture (although much better than TTN3).
I would add that the POI are not displayed when you have the saftey screen on anyway. _________________ iPhone5, TomTom, Google maps, Navfree, Viewranger and Apple Maps (ekk) |
